Toth & Associates, Inc. (TOTH) has an opening for a full-time CAD Technician to work with our Transmission, Distribution, and Communication Line Design team. As a CAD Technician, you will work with close guidance and supervision on a variety of utility projects, including overhead and underground power and communications. You will utilize AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and other industry standard tools to create detailed schematics that are used in the design and construction of line design projects. These detailed technical drawings incorporate the input of engineers and surveyors and can specify dimensions, codes, materials, and production methods.

Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Follow specified CAD standards, complete assigned tasks of 2D and 3D model development.

  • Complete design changes, general arrangement drawing production, incorporating redlines, plotting, and drafting using CAD platforms mentioned below.

  • Work closely with engineers, project managers, and senior designers on assigned projects regarding model accuracy, design, drafting standards, and design documentation.

  • Illustrate production methods, materials, and specifications as designed by the engineer.

  • Create detailed and accurate sitemaps with utilities for use in design plans.

  • Utilize existing aerial photography and survey data within drawing sets.

  • Perform thorough quality control of documentation and ensure comments/markups have been addressed.

  • Perform other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.


  • Graduate of a two (2) year program in computer-aided drafting and design techniques from an accredited college or technical school is preferred.

  • Prior work experience in transmission design, civil design, or site development is preferred.

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Microsoft Excel, and Adobe Acrobat Pro or Bluebeam is required.

  • Technical knowledge of Inventor is preferred.

  • Strong organizational skills, along with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks, meet tight deadlines, and demonstrate a flexible approach to work assignments.

  • Skilled at identifying discrepancies between drawings and specifications.

  • Strong understanding of the engineering design work process.

  • Ability to solve problems using sound professional judgment, creativity, and innovation.

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to work with others in a team environment.
