Sherwood Companies was established in 1934 and currently under the third generation owner and CEO, David Sherwood. Sherwood has become an industry leader in the Midwest by having the ability to self-perform many types of civil construction projects, while having a tremendous amount of experience with all underground utilities.  Sherwood self-performs many types of civil construction including: earthwork and site prep, concrete and asphalt paving, civil and structural concrete, rock excavation, piling and sheet piling, sub-grade stabilization, and water/waste-water treatment facilities.


JOB DESCRIPTION
Responsible for sampling asphalt product to ensure product meets required specifications. Partners and coordinates daily/weekly scheduling with management, plant personnel, crew members, and Department of Transportation (DOT) inspectors to obtain necessary samples. Must be willing to perform testing on asphalt, concrete, aggregate and soils. This role is classified as safety sensitive.


ACTIVITIES/TASKS/SCOPE
• Properly follow all company policies and MSHA & OSHA regulations for safe working procedures and environmental best practices
• Perform lab or roadway testing, analyses, and technical work daily to ensure quality and consistency
• Provides guidance to production staff on quality control issues and recommends adjustments to assure materials being produced are of highest quality
• Assist with mix designs and optimization efforts
• Produce, compile and review test results and comparisons that ensure consistency, as well as, understanding of short term/long term changes and variations to materials and products
• Correlates test results in relation to field complaints to determine cause and prevent future issues
• Able to handle flexible and changing schedules, locations, times and overtime as needed
• Perform field testing that may be out of town, county or state
• Other duties as assigned

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
• High School or GED required
• 1 to 3 years of prior experience in Ready and/or Asphalt Mix Quality Control, ideally in both field and lab environments
• Experience working with Oklahoma DOT a plus
• Driver License with clean driving record required
