We are currently seeking a part-time Archaeologist Intern for our Bloomington, MN location. Responsibilities will include conducting archaeological fieldwork as part of a team or individually. This work will include pedestrian surveys and shovel testing. Fieldwork will be in the Midwest, Upper Midwest, and Northern Great Plains. The duration of the internship is expected to be May through August 2024.

Qualifications:

Desired skills in the ideal candidate include:

• Currently reside in the Twin Cities Metro Area of Minnesota.
• Enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program with a focus on archaeology.
• Able to manage time well and work on tasks as part of a larger project team.
• Strong team player.
• Excellent communicator, both written and verbal.
• Knowledge of Midwest and Great Plains Archaeology.

Education:

• Current enrollment in an anthropology or archaeology program in pursuit of a B.S., B.A., or M.A. required.

• Must be able to walk up to 10-15 miles per day around project sites.
• Must physically be able to carry equipment such as maps, shovels, screens, GPS unit, and cameras during field work.

Work Environment:
The work environment will consist of 100% field work, with some field work requiring overnight stays. You must be able to:

• Work in a variety of weather conditions, and in all seasons, both hot and cold.
• Work in remote locations and include areas of uneven terrain.
• Travel, including overnight stays.
