We are seeking a Senior LabVIEW Software Engineer to join our team. The Senior LabVIEW Software Engineer is responsible for the development of software applications enabling the development and testing of fuel cell products. This person will develop customer-facing production releases as well as special purpose test software primarily based in LabVIEW.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
Engineering Test Software: Technology, Systems Development, Product Engineering and Manufacturing:
- Fully functional, tested and released LabVIEW software.
- Up-to-date documentation for version control history and bug tracking
- Alignment and awareness of software test processes across all Nuvera sites
- Internal processes of software versioning and revision control are developed and executed via Nuvera Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) and software revision tools
- Fully functional, tested and released LabVIEW software versions that are effectively supporting test campaigns and/or field monitoring or service objective
- Up-to-date documentation required for version control history and bug tracking
- Lab safety system objectives (Billerica) - Fully functional, tested and released LabVIEW software, that is driving the Lab Safety System; software revisions are well planned and prepared/debugged in advance of scheduled system outages; Up-to-date documentation required for version control history and bug tracking
- Integrated National Instruments data acquisition hardware, off-the-shelf test equipment and proprietary hardware
- Applications are seamlessly integrated with all data acquisition, PC hardware and ancillary equipment
- User interfaces are well organized and provide effective means of data acquisition and control
- Communication protocols for special purpose hardware are incorporated in the graphical user interface
- Well supported controls and properly vetted control specifications
- Software/hardware issues debugged with implemented permanent solutions
- On the job training and mentoring of less experienced engineers and technicians
- Knowledge is effectively transferred within team and across departments
- Opportunities to improve department procedures and systems are regularly promoted and put into effect
- Project scope and schedules are closely monitored to ensure delivery requirements are met
Required Job Qualifications (unless otherwise noted):
Educational Background
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or other related Engineering field. Master's degree in Engineering preferred.
National Instruments Certified LabVIEW Architect (CLA) certification highly preferred.
Previous Work Experience
- 10+ years of professional experience
- 8+ years of LabVIEW development experience
- Extensive experience with supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) systems
- Demonstrated excellence with LabVIEW is mandatory
- Experience with NI DAQmx, and NI VISA drivers and supported protocols (GPIB, RS232/RS485, TCP/IP, USB)
- Ability to work with CAN and Modbus network protocols
- Experience implementing watchdog timer functions
- Experience with software version control system(s) and issue tracking system(s)
- Knowledge of Apache Subversion, Redmine and Aras Innovator preferred
- Thorough understanding of control specifications, wiring diagrams, piping and instrumentation diagrams and schematics
- Ability to build and design comprehensive Human Machine Interfaces (HMI) and Graphical User Interfaces (GUI)
- Skilled in the development of bidirectional hardware communications for data logging and process control
- Familiarity with basic relational database concepts.
- Experience with numerical methods, interpolation, regression analysis and data curve fitting functions
- Ability to implement proportional-integral-derivative (PID) control algorithms
- Experience with software-based calibration routines and I/O scaling of analog signals
- Ability to implement user defined alarms and test automation using time/text-based scripting methods
- LabVIEW Object-Oriented Programming experience
- Experience with design and simulation of systems in Simulink
- Additional software skills: (C/C++, PHP, Python, etc.) helpful.
- Excellent interpersonal, problem solving, and organizational skills
- Motivated and works well in a team environment
- Excellent verbal, written, and communication skills
- Up to 5% domestic travel
- Laboratory and office work environments.
