Job Title: Student Employment and Engagement Program Specialist

Department: Human Resources

Reports to: Director of Talent Management and Development


Position Summary
Reporting to the Director of Talent Management and Development, the Student Employment and Engagement Specialist focuses on managing student employment and engagement initiatives that cultivate a robust and inclusive work environment.


The specialist owns and coordinates the college's Student Employment program and maintains relationships with all necessary partners utilizing this program. The specialist also is the primary support for the college's Learning & Development, Engagement programs, and Performance Management initiatives supporting the Director of Talent Management with logistics, assessments, communications, and reporting activities. Supervises student employees for the HR office.


Primary Position Responsibilities

Communication:


  • Posts positions and communicates with community about opportunities, timelines, application procedures, and other relevant policy and procedures

  • Coordinates Student Employment with representatives from other departments (including Career Services, LTS, Payroll and SFS)

  • Troubleshoots issues between students and hiring departments

  • Works with departments/supervisors to support student development throughout the work.


Policy Adherence:

  • Maintains procedures and program materials for students and employers.

  • Maintains hiring guidelines for managers and student employment guidelines for work-study students.

  • Works with departments/supervisors to define positions


Engagement, Leadership & Development, Recognition, and Performance Management Programs:

  • Support leadership and management programs, as well as programs designed for cross-community engagement, with a particular focus on communication and inclusion.

  • Key efforts in these areas include

    • administration of learning & development programming and evaluating outcomes (administering the assessments)

    • developing and offering programs for Develop Recognize You and Engage You.

    • testing Workday Performance Management functionality, setting up Performance Management training



  • The tasks associated with these programs include the responsibility of ensuring website content is current and accurate, communication and virtual and physical promotion of programs (i.e. online and physical flyers), tracking and reporting of registration.

  • Support staff recognition programming, the employee service anniversary recognition event, and performance management communication, training, systems, and participation. This includes collaboration with other departments to ensure location reservation, catering, technology, etc are secured for day-of-event.

  • Support training programs across the HR team (such as leave training, etc)


Student Employee Supervision:

  • Model best practices in supervision through oversight of the Human Resources Student Assistants

Supervisor Responsibilities

  • Supervise the student employees for the HR office.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required

  • 3 to 5+ years' experience in an HR functional role (preference for experience in student employment or employee engagement programming)

Skills and Abilities

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to effectively communicate with diverse audiences

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate program details.

  • Demonstrated commitment to continuous growth and improvement.

  • Experience applying knowledge of student employment regulations and guidelines

  • Experience implementing and supporting employee engagement programming

  • Management of inquiries in a timely manner

  • Demonstrated proficiency in using technology for job-related purposes. Specifically, Google Suite, Microsoft Office Suite, Salesforce and Workday (or a similar HR system).

  • Keen collaboration skills with the appropriate level of urgency

  • Experience with high level of multitasking between projects and tracking multiple deadlines

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment.
