Position Summary

Plans, regulates and monitors construction activities for Erie Insurance. Directs and oversees large scale construction projects at the home office complex and other owned or leased properties as needed.

Duties and Responsibilities

Manages overall operations of designated area of authority. Interviews, hires, trains and directs personnel. Prepares and conducts performance assessments, coordinates discipline and oversees Employee development as required.

Schedules, directs and manages higher profile construction projects that will support critical functions within the organization.

Takes appropriate measures in the course of construction to avoid downtime on any system that could interfere with the normal day-to-day business activities of the company.

Organizes, manages and directs the turnover of records documents to the business.

Evaluates and implements budgeting and audit protocol for construction projects that aligns with the Controller Division.

Promotes a collaborative work environment with the core project team members and the key stakeholders/customers.

Ensures that construction managers are supportive of department and company goals and objectives.

Manages AIA contract development, contract negotiations for design and construction activities.

Utilizes consultants when necessary to assist in the design and development, pre-construction and construction stages of a project.

Ensures compliance with designs, specification, safety standards and building codes.

Qualifications

The minimum education and experience requirements are as follows:

Bachelor's degree in a commercial construction related curriculum with eight years of experience in commercial construction management; or

Associate's degree in a commercial construction related curriculum with ten years of experience in commercial construction management; or

High school diploma, or GED, with twelve years of experience

in commercial construction management.

Strong working knowledge of construction estimating, scheduling, budgeting, contract writing and negotiating, and construction management tools required. Valid driver's license and good driving record required.
