Role description:

Arcadis is currently seeking an Industrial Hygiene Specialist/Asbestos Field Inspector to perform asbestos-related field work, including inspections and abatement monitoring/oversight and air sampling. Additional tasks also include indoor air quality (IAQ)/mold investigations and remediation oversight as well as lead paint inspections and abatement oversight.

This position will be based out of the Arcadis's Atlanta GA office. Candidates must be willing and able to travel, work nights and weekends depending on the project work needs. Travel will often be within Georgia but may also be to surrounding states or elsewhere in the U.S. as needs arise.

Role accountabilities:


  • Perform oversight, documentation, and air monitoring for asbestos, mold, and lead, remediation activities
  • Routinely interact/communicate with Arcadis task managers, project managers, abatement contractors, consultants, and client personnel
  • Perform inspections/surveys for asbestos, mold (water intrusion), lead-paint, and other hazardous building materials
  • Additional Responsibilities will include:

    • Groundwater Monitoring Well Sampling
    • Environmental Treatment System Water and Air Sampling
    • Environmental Treatment System Operation and Maintenance (O&M)
    • Soil Sampling
    • Remediation Injections
    • Compliance Inspections and Documentation
    • Air Monitoring
    • Subcontractor Oversight


We are seeking a candidate who possesses comprehensive knowledge of relevant regulations encompassing OSHA, EPA, and state guidelines pertaining to substances like asbestos, lead-based paint, mold, and others. Additionally, the ideal candidate will have a willingness, flexibility and ability to learn new skills depending on the project needs.

Flexibility is crucial for this position, as work hours may extend beyond the typical 8-hour shift and may include nights, weekends, and potentially longer shifts. Additionally, the ability to travel for extended periods is desired to accommodate project requirements.

Furthermore, the selected candidate will be responsible for performing core duties primarily at commercial buildings or offices. Work locations could include facilities such as industrial, chemical, oil/gas, and public. Adaptability to different environments and settings is key.

Required Qualifications:

  • EPA Certified Asbestos Inspector
  • 2 years of experience with asbestos, mold, lead, or related Industrial Hygiene work

Preferred Qualifications:

  • EPA Certified Asbestos Project Monitor
  • EPA Certified Asbestos Designer
  • AS or BS in physical sciences or industrial hygiene, safety, environmental sciences, or related science or engineering fields preferred.
  • Understanding of HVAC systems, building mechanical systems, and building construction
  • Other asbestos state licenses/certifications in surrounding states (TN, NC, SC, AL, FL, etc.)
  • Properly trained in the NIOSH 582 or 582 Equivalent course
  • OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER
  • Knowledge of applicable OSHA, EPA, and state regulations for asbestos, etc.
