JOB SUMMARY: The Clinical Coordinator for the Respiratory Care Program is responsible for, but not limited to, mentoring clinical preceptors, and serving as the primary point of contact between the clinical affiliates and the program, making required visits to clinical sites, and scheduling students for clinical assignments to ensure educationally sound experiences. The Clinical Coordinator is also responsible for teaching of Respiratory Care courses. This position will report to the Program Director for Respiratory Care.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for clinical competency, scheduling, and monitoring of Respiratory Program clinical courses.
Didactic instruction/clinical coordination and instruction in the clinic as needed
Evaluate and ensure effectiveness of clinical experiences
Provide clinical instruction and document the evaluation/progression of clinical performance/competencies
Develop a regular schedule for visiting clinical affiliates
Be available for students/clinic educators during all clinical hours
Serve as liaison between college and clinical agencies
Serve the community through learning projects with students and other college constituent groups
Maintain current knowledge of program policies, procedures, and student progress
Participate in LIT faculty program development programs, marketing, and departmental meetings
Meet deadlines for evaluation and documentation of student performance as required, and in compliance with college, state, CoARC, and SACSCOC standards
Participate in the programmatic/college accreditation process and all necessary assessment processes
Evaluate student progress through examinations and observations of performance
Actively support student success through examinations and observations of performance
Work cooperatively with the Program Director and clinical preceptors to complete and update clinical evaluation tools, handbooks, and clinical curriculum
Maintain clinical education documents including records of student performance and competency procedures
Participate in recruitment and retention efforts.
Possess good verbal and written communication skills.
Maintain ethical and professional behavior.
Adhere to policies and procedures contained in TSUS and LIT Policies and Procedures Manual
Travels to approved LIT training sites as needed
Perform related duties as required
Physical Requirements:This position requires the ability to: remain in a stationary position for most of the time; occasionally move about inside an office to access documents, office equipment, etc.; constantly operate a computer or other office equipment, such as a printer or copy machine; frequently move items and equipment typically found in Respiratory Care environment. Minimum Qualifications:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution, preferably in a health-related field
Valid Registered Respiratory Therapy (RRT) credential and current state license
Minimum of 4 years' experience as an RRT with at least 2 years' experience in clinical respiratory care
Minimum of 2 years' experience teaching either as an appointed faculty member in a CoARC-accredited respiratory care program or a as a clinical preceptor for students of such programs
Proficiency in curriculum development, supervision, instruction, evaluation, and academic advising
Current knowledge and current practice of Cardiopulmonary Diagnostic and Respiratory Care Procedures
Willingness to complete the CoARC Key Personnel Training if not already completed
