Job Summary

The VDI Administrator oversees VDI / View integration while supporting VMWare/ View environment. Functions as project lead over key initiatives related to VDI/View and Microsoft patchwork. Serves as the key resource for interactions with our VDI/ VMWare host provider. Creates key initiatives to ensure stability of the VDI environment. Conducts monitoring over VDI service performance. Builds gold/ parent images for deployment across the environment.

Education & Experience

Required:
o High School Diploma or GED o 4+ years technical support experience in a large, corporate environment o 4+ years technical experience with desktops support o 3 years VMWare Horizon v7 experience o 3 years VMWARE VDI View experience

Preferred:
o Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Business, Engineering, or related on the job experience in a VDI environment. o VCAP - Architecture Certification o VCP - VMWare Certified Professional

Key Responsibilities

o Applies advanced knowledge of operating systems, network administration, desktop virtualization via VDI/ VMWare/ View environment, the OSI model, TCP/IP principals, computer viruses, security and protocols. o Collaborates with users, vendors, and other technical staff members on the isolation and resolution of on-going system problems and enhancements. o Troubleshoots Horizon View Logs for efficient problem resolution. o Trains peer IT personnel on VMWare View and Horizon usage. o Monitors VMWare View usage and performance. o Designs, develops, and monitors patch and software distributions to VDI desktops. o Participates in developing IT best practices, policies, processes, and procedures for VDI environment. o Performs other duties as assigned. o Regular and reliable attendance is required.

Technical Skills: Intermediate-level understanding of VMware vSphere to create, troubleshoot, and modify virtual machines. VCP-level understanding in creating, modifying, and updating templates to create parent images for VM deployment. Intermediate-level knowledge of networking concepts including DNS and DHCP. Windows Administrator-level understanding of using Active Directory to manage users and groups. Working knowledge of Powershell commands. VCP-level understanding of Desktop and Application Entitlements in HorizonView. Working knowledge of AppVolumes to install and deploy applications to users and groups.

Working Conditions

Working Conditions:
o Standard office environment, with weekend or nighttime work to implement changes when users are off the system o Limited travel required to remote sites for maintenance and moves o Extensive computer work with prolonged sitting o Participates in rotation of on-call responsibility o Requires Department of Defense security clearance

*Annual base salary for Colorado, Hawaii and Washington State residents: $85,000-$109,000 depending on experience*
