Moore Humane Society is a private, nonprofit rescue organization and as the founders of animal welfare in the Sandhills we operate the only privately funded, state-licensed "no-kill" animal shelter in Moore County.
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Bookkeeper to join our team part-time. Must be able to work independently and interact with clients and staff.
REQUIREMENTS:
QuickBooks: • Setting up and maintaining QuickBooks accounts, including charts of accounts, vendors, customers, and inventory items. • Recording and categorizing financial transactions, such as invoices, payments, and expenses, accurately and efficiently in QuickBooks. • Reconciling bank accounts, credit cards, and other financial statements regularly to ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial data. • Generating financial reports and statements, such as balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, as needed for internal and external stakeholders. • Providing training and support to staff members on QuickBooks usage and best practices, as needed.
Banking: • Handling in-person banking activities, such as making deposits, withdrawing funds, and managing account inquiries at local banking institutions. • Conducting online banking transactions, including transferring funds, paying bills, and reconciling accounts using our organization's banking platforms. • Maintaining accurate records of all financial transactions and donor contributions, ensuring compliance with internal policies and external regulations. • Tracking donor information, including contact details, donation history, and preferences, to facilitate personalized communication and stewardship efforts. • Preparation and distribution of donor acknowledgment letters, receipts, and reports in a timely and accurate manner.
Taxes: • Preparation and filing of various tax forms, including income tax returns, payroll taxes, and sales tax filings, by federal, state, and local regulations. • Managing payroll processing, including deductions for Social Security, Medicare, and other applicable taxes, to ensure accurate and timely payments to employees. • Monitoring and facilitating compliance with tax-exempt status requirements to maintain our organization's tax-exempt status. • Providing support during audits and assisting with preparing financial statements and reports as needed. • Staying informed about changes in tax laws and regulations that may impact our organization, and proactively implementing necessary adjustments to ensure compliance.
