Job Summary
The majority of the videos created by the Multimedia Videographer are shot and edited vertically for Instagram Reels. This role must utilize a number of skills to create professional-quality vertical videos including, but not limited to, shooting, editing, sound (recording and music), graphics, effects, and storytelling.
Department-Specific Responsibilities
Creates videos for the Indiana Memorial Union, Student Health Center, IU Housing, and many more departments within the Office of Student Life under the supervision of the Digital Media Specialist.
Covers everything from major university events, to departmental functions, and marketing campaign shoots. In addition to social media videos/Reels, additional video projects may include short-form documentaries and tours.
Brainstorms, storyboards, shoots, edits, and creatively enhances videos into professional commercials, presentations, or other formats through collaboration with the marketing team and/or clients.
Creates videos in both vertical and horizontal formats based on audience and platform.
Uses creativity and problem-solving to create effective videos based on the needs of marketing initiatives.
Captures video primarily on DSLR cameras but may use a smartphone for some social media videos.
Incorporates graphics, closed captioning, and more to enhance video projects.
Edits video footage in Adobe Premiere Pro and enhances graphics in Adobe After Effects.
Works closely with various members of the marketing team and professional staff/clients from around the Office of Student Life.
Participates in various meetings, workshops, critiques, and brainstorming sessions as necessary.

SKILLS
Required
Solid understanding of DSLR cameras, lighting, and gathering audio
Experience editing videos with Adobe Premiere Pro
Experience editing photos with Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom
Able to work a flexible schedule to cover some evening and weekend events as well as maintaining some office hours
Fine attention to detail

Working Conditions / Demands
This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.
