Job Description:

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Kforce has a client in Elk Grove Village, IL

Responsibilities:

• Install, terminate, and test Fiber Optics and Cat 6 cables in accordance with industry standards and specifications


• Handle cable jumpers, dressing, and routing within the data center infrastructure


• Proficiently read and interpret cable cut sheets, often provided in Excel format


• Ensure accurate labeling and documentation of cables for ease of identification and troubleshooting


• Collaborate with customers and team members to understand project requirements and provide feedback as needed


• Follow direction from supervisors and customers while maintaining effective communication throughout projects


• Adhere to strict safety guidelines, particularly when working in critical data center environments


• Safely climb ladders and lift items of varying weights, ranging from small to medium-sized equipment


• Conduct thorough testing and quality assurance checks to ensure optimal performance of installed cabling systems


• Identify and resolve any issues or discrepancies encountered during cable installation or testing processes

REQUIREMENTS:

• Certifications such as BICSI, RCDD, or similar credentials in cabling and data center infrastructure are highly desirable


• Proven experience as a Data Center Cable Technician, with specific expertise in Fiber Optics and Cat 6 cabling


• Proficiency in reading and understanding cable cut sheets, including those presented in Excel format


• Strong knowledge of industry-standard cable installation practices, terminations, and testing methodologies


• Ability to work efficiently and accurately in high-pressure environments, ensuring minimal downtime and disruptions


• Demonstrated capability to follow directions, prioritize tasks, and adapt to changing project requirements


• Physical ability to climb ladders, lift moderate-weight items, and perform tasks in confined spaces as required

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
