JOB SUMMARY

Reporting to the Director of Donor Relations, the Associate Director of Donor Relations and Stewardship at Wellesley College will collaborate with frontline fundraisers and the Vice President for Development to produce innovative stewardship that recognizes and celebrates principal gifts donors.

The Associate Director will proactively initiate and manage planning for stewardship and recognition, such as gift announcements, impact reports, and special gifts, and will collaborate with Donor Relations colleagues to execute long-term stewardship plans that align with evolving cultivation and solicitation strategies.


A new position, this is an exciting opportunity to build out a critically important function within the development department. These efforts lay the groundwork as Wellesley College heads into its next transformational fundraising campaign, which will fuel the implementation of the College's ambitious strategic plan.



KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES


Liaise with the frontline fundraisers 25%


  • Be the point person within Donor Relations for stewardship and recognition projects related to principal gifts donors

  • Propose innovative stewardship and engagement touchpoints to surprise and delight donors

  • Respond to requests for stewardship and recognition materials, and collaborate with prospect managers to design personalized high-impact stewardship actions.


Individual Stewardship and Engagement Plans 50%

  • Review donors' giving history, incorporate gift officers' cultivation strategies, and propose and implement individual stewardship and engagement plans for a select group of donors.

  • Spearhead new initiatives and enhancements to deepen top donors' relationship with the College, promote donor retention and inspire further giving.

  • Bring a holistic and coordinated approach to the donor experience that maps acknowledgements, impact reporting, and donor experiences to key milestones, relationships, and cultivation strategies.


Other Donor relations and stewardship duties as required 25%

  • Oversee presidential acknowledgments, and related correspondence, as well as leading donor recognition strategies.

  • Develop digital platforms, tools, and workflows that encourage productive relationships with faculty members and frontline officers and orient them to impending reporting requirements and milestones

  • Simplify processes with the aim of making space for more creative and tailored donor engagement

  • Adapt with flexibility as priorities within the division and department evolve.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree preferred.

  • 5+ years of experience in donor relations, stewardship, advancement, and/or customer service.

  • Exceptional communication skills.

  • Able to conceive, propose, and execute both written and non-written methods of recognition for top donors.

  • Comfort with receiving, incorporating, and delivering feedback.

  • Able to build, maintain, and leverage relationships with students, faculty, colleagues, donors, and others in a way that is culturally aware and respectful.

  • Able to identify key stakeholders and ensure their interests are represented.

  • Able to problem solve, think strategically and creatively, and adapt quickly to competing and changing priorities.

  • Able to work independently and also collaboratively, influence without authority, and take initiative.

  • Exceptional time management and organizational skills are necessary.

  • Must be able to treat confidential information with discretion.
