Job Description:


IT Help Desk Specialist

New River Community College is a two-year public institution of higher education operating under a state-wide system of 23 community colleges. The college is located on a one-hundred-plus acre site at the intersection of U.S. Routes 11 and 100 in Dublin, Virginia with an instructional site in Christiansburg. The campus provides modern, well-equipped facilities for the career technical education programs as well as for the college transfer programs. Approximately 4,000 students comprise the student body.

Duties:


  • Route service tickets/quality assurance. Assist end users with level 1 technical issues in person. Run / Complete various SAS reports as needed. Provide phone/email support to end users. Assist in the procurement process for various departments. Assist in the inventory processes for the technology department. Assist with scheduling specific college resources. Perform other duties as assigned by the Technology Services Manager.


KSA's/Required Qualifications


  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Process oriented and organized. Detailed knowledge of Microsoft 365 and Google suites. Knowledge of the Windows and OSX operating systems. Familiarity with iOS and Android mobile operating systems. Experience problem-solving and supporting users by phone, email, and in person. Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a collaborative manner in a team-oriented environment.


Additional Considerations:


  • Knowledge of Identity and Access Management tools and techniques. Knowledge of user authentication directory systems. Experience with procurement systems.
