Behavioral Health Provider-Center for Weight Management and Bariatric Surgery



Wentworth Health Partners is looking for a licensed Integrated Behavioral Health Provider (IBHP) to join our growing bariatric surgery team.The IBHP works as a core member of a multi-disciplinary care team supporting our growing Bariatric Program. The IBHP's role includes providing full Psycho-Social Evaluation for Bariatric Surgery candidates as well as providing time-limited behavioral health support after the surgery. The IBHP also provides consultative services to bariatric healthcare providers and patients for a broad array of behavioral health issues including, mood, anxiety, and addiction-based disorders.


This position requires advanced skills in utilizing evidence based screening tools, conducting thorough assessments using a biopsychosocial model and delivering brief evidence-based interventions including psychoeducation, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Problem Solving Therapy, Behavioral Activation, and other short-term solution-focused interventions for individuals and groups. Existing knowledge or deep interest in acquiring training in Bariatric Health issues is required.


The goal is to improve the overall health and quality of life of patients with a variety of physical, emotional, and behavioral needs. The IBHP work includes providing consultations to the Bariatric Team and providing recommendations to the care team to enhance the patient's care plan. When indicated, the IBHP may also work with patients for a limited number of follow-up sessions in both individual and group formats, to provide ongoing skills training, motivational enhancement, goal planning and coaching to improve health and functioning. The IBHP will also triage patients and help ensure smooth coordination of care with other community partners for those patients who require more intensive specialty services not provided within the bariatric program.

Qualifications

Experience Minimum Required
• 3-5 years of independent counseling at the licensed level

Experience Preferred/Desired
• Over 5 years of independent counseling at the LICSW level with children, families and adults; specialty certifications in areas such as substance abuse, crisis or grief.
Education Minimum Required
• LICSW, LCMHC, LMFT
• Licensed in NH

Education Preferred/Desired
• Licensed in NH and ME

Special Skills Minimum Required
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Ability to organize time and establish priorities; ability to communicate in written, electronic and verbal formats; ability to give and receive information over the telephone; ability to make effective judgements and decisions based on objective criteria.
• Ability to work in a stressful environment and handle sensitive issues; ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Calm, reassuring, empathetic demeanor; flexible, professional in interactions with people at all levels; ability to work with a wide range of patient conditions, personalities, and cultures; ability to provide good internal and external customer service.
• Ability to operate a computer.
• Ability to assess and diagnose mental disorders.
• Ability to provide treatment using multiple modalities of acceptable practice.
