JOB SUMMARY: HGI is seeking a Summer Intern who will have the opportunity to rotate through our Investor Relations, Asset Management orAcquisitions Transactions team. The Real Estate Investment team covers all aspects of a real estate transaction - from the moment a deal goes to the investment committee until after its disposition.

The 10-week internship will contain a 5-week rotational opportunity with cross-functional exposure in areas of Investor Relations, Investment Management, Asset Management, Transactions and Acquisitions. These areas will require knowledge in market research, KPI analysis, financial modeling, with hands-on daily deliverables, and project deadlines. In addition, the program will provide educational aspects and provide an opportunity to gain industry knowledge through business interactions with senior leadership and job assignments. The role is based in New York City.

Investor Relations:

Primary responsibilities will involve supporting investment management duties consisting of performance analysis, investor reporting, underwriting model review, and special projects. The team's focus is also on communicating the company's products, platform, competitive advantages, business model and financial results to external audiences, including investors.

Asset Management:

As an Asset Management Intern , you will provide analytical and administrative support for a variety of asset management functions across the company's real estate investment portfolio including multi-tenant commercial assets and multifamily assets. While working closely with the Asset Management team, you will interact with other corporate teams including Property Management, Investor Relations, Transactions, and Accounting.

Acquisition Transaction :

Primary responsibilities will involve supporting the team with sourcing, underwriting, and securing multi-family real estate investment opportunities. You will work directly with Acquisitions analyst to evaluate multi-family real estate investment opportunities. You may be exposed to the process for underwriting or preparing valuation models for potential acquisitions. Interns may support the team in researching new markets andidentifying investment opportunities for the company.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following but are not limited to the job specifications contained herein.


  • Develop business, financial, and analytical skills needed for a career in real estate investment.
  • Provide support for due diligence for and underwriting of new acquisitions, prior to reaching the investment committee .
  • Assist in reviewing financial and operating statements, third-party reports, and real estate market information.
  • Perform market research regarding real estate transactions, supply, demand, and market trends.
  • Assist with the preparation and review of monthly, quarterly, and special investor reports.
  • Research, analyze, and present materials to the Investor Relations team based on property tours or special projects.
  • Contribute to the preparation of annual conference materials, pitchbooks, and performance reports.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.

  • Interest in pursuit of commercial real estate as a career
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong attention to detail, follow up and overseeing projects through completion
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook & PowerPoint is a plus
  • Relevant experience, including internships, in real estate is a plus
  • Strong interpersonal & communications skills, both verbal and written
  • 10-week commitment (June 3rd - August 9th)
  • Enrolled in 4-year accredited program
