As a Tax Consultant on our Credits & Incentives team, you will be responsible for pursuing federal, state, and local statutory and discretionary tax savings opportunities, tracking savings, maintaining incentive compliance to avoid recapture and responding to audits. This role also supports the Tax team with income tax provision and workpaper preparation. Responsibilities include:
identifying available incentives via tax research engines, including state and local tax incentives for new facilities, jobs credits, port credits, environmental credits, training credits, enterprise zone credits, energy incentives, federal hurricane credits, federal retention credits, new market tax credits, federal opportunity zones, and maximizing tax deductions such as inventory donations
engaging with economic development professionals, consultants, and government officials in the negotiations of state and local discretionary tax savings opportunities for new projects
monitoring legislative changes that could affect current or future incentive projects
preparing ongoing incentive compliance to ensure continuation of benefits
managing the Work Opportunity Tax Credit (WOTC) program and credit calculations
assisting with the preparation of the annual federal and state income tax return workpapers, including tax credit and permanent deduction calculations
assisting with the calculation of tax credits and permanent deduction estimates for the quarterly income tax provision
ensuring accuracy related to various cash management functions
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or another analytical discipline or its equivalent
4 years of relevant business experience

Master’s Degree in Accounting with emphasis in Tax or MBA with concentration in Accounting or Finance
5 years of relevant business experience
Certified Credits & Incentives Professional (CCIP)
Knowledge of federal, state, and local tax incentive programs
Knowledge of tax research techniques and tax research software
Knowledge of tax incentive firms and their offerings
Ability to comprehend and interpret tax law
Ability to create queries against database tables
Intermediate SAP HR & Financial module knowledge
Advanced skills in Checkpoint Tax Incentives Research Engine and CCH AnswerConnect
