Under supervision of Shift Supervisor, makes routine checks of all tower equipment to ensure it is operating properly.
Responsibilities
Check all equipment in tower area
Obtain raw feed measurement and calcination on a regular time schedule
Keep all cyclones, gas, and fuel vessels clear of build-up
Assist with kiln repairs pre-heater tower and associated equipment plug-free
Measure silos periodically, service inlet 02 analyzer when necessary
Assure that blending silo material empties into proper storage silo and that the silos are feeding properly
Make sure blend silo dust collector is clear
Check tipping valves and lubricate as needed
Unplug cyclone as it plugs
Perform duties as assigned by Shift Supervisor
Keep feed shelf clean and free of buildup
Keep Shift Supervisor informed of mechanical electrical repairs needed and help prioritize these repairs
Help train other employees
Communicate with Pyro-Process Operator prior to opening any door
Minimum Education and Experience
High school diploma or equivalent
Must have plant experience or knowledge of Finish Mill(s) and Kiln(s) and their operation
Must have some mathematics knowledge (such as addition, subtraction and multiplication). Must have some computer skills.
Physical Requirements
Must be able to walk ½ to 1 mile per day
Must be able to climb ladder and stairs up to 400' if needed
Must be able to be exposed to heights of 200'- 300'
Must be able to keep area safety inspection
Must be able to read and write legibly to keep records on equipment and tools and read equipment manuals
Must be able to understand and speak clearly on mobile radio unit
Must be able to use hand wrenches, power tools, and be familiar with power shot systems
Must be able to use shovel, broom, jackhammer, wheelbarrow for housekeeping 9.
Must be able to lift up to 100 lbs.
Must be able to operate bobcat, manlift, and forklift
Must be able to work with solvents and paints and must wear proper protective equipment
Working Conditions
Must be able to work in all weather conditions (heat, cold, and rain). Noise levels may reach maximum of 106 dba for a period of 5-10 minutes an hour. Must be able to work in conditions including the following: odors, dust, mechanical hazards, electrical hazards, hazardous chemicals, and non-hazardous materials. For this job, the nature of these hazards cannot be controlled due to the job environment and job procedures. In this case, the type of safety equipment required is: company issued headgear, gloves, earplugs, steel-toed shoes or boots, safety glasses, respirators, lock-out.
