An independent school in New York City, seeks applications for the position of Extended Programs Manager to oversee our Early Bird and after school programs during the school year.

The main responsibilities for this full-time, 10-month position will be to create and maintain programs that extend beyond the classroom school day. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting all aspects of Extended Programs and the well-being of approximately 150+ children including but not limited to physical, social, and emotional needs and supervision of 40+ staff at a time. The successful candidate will have the vision, initiative, organization, and persistence required to shepherd a variety of programs ranging in their developmental stage from nascent ideas to the long established. This position reports directly to the CFO/COO, with close collaboration with the Lower School Division Head.

During the school year the hours for this position are 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM but may extend based on program needs.

Essential Functions
  • Create a safe and enjoyable student experience by developing and managing a trimester-cycle after school program for students in grades K-6, and an early bird program for students in grades K-4.
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the programs which include hiring, training, retaining, and managing payroll for internal and external staff, adults and students, as well as third party vendors.
  • Maintain detailed attendance records for billing and payroll.
  • Organize program logistics, such as schedules, snack, space reservations, trips, supply requests, and other programmatic needs.
  • Conduct program observations; assess individual programs on a consistent basis and address concerns as they arise.
  • Build rapport with students and support their needs in conjunction with the divisional offices and homeroom teachers.
  • Encourage positive character development in all children while upholding the mission and philosophy of the School.
  • Communicate with parents/caregivers regarding arrival and departure, student challenges and celebrations, and regarding billing in coordination with the Business Office.
  • Build productive relationships with the Lower School Head and Assistant Head, faculty members, the Parent Association leadership, and parent volunteers.
  • Provide budget reports, develop pricing schedules, and share regular program updates with the CFO/COO.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in education, social sciences, liberal arts, or equivalent professional experience required.
  • 3+ years of experience working with elementary school-aged children.
  • 3+ years of experience as a leader in an inclusive, educational setting or similar environment.
  • Excellent organizational and oral/written communication skills.
  • Self-motivated with a positive attitude.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to work collaboratively and independently.
  • Ability to adapt to the needs of the School and growth reflected in the program.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and G Suite, as well as billing platforms.
  • Current First Aid/CPR/RTE certifications.

Compensation

The expected salary range for this position is $65,000 - $75,000 based upon experience.
