Job Description:

Our client in the non-profit industry is seeking a Senior Director, Geriatrics Program to joint heir team in NYC! The role of the Senior Director, Geriatrics Programs is to oversee the company's Social Services program that focuses on the senior population. This position directly supervises the manager of the Senior Repair Program and the all other Geriatrics & Safety Net Programs including Elder Abuse Prevention. The Senior Director, Geriatrics Programs will ensure departmental deliverables are met, manage the program budget, respond to funder requests for progress reports, work with program managers to plan and oversee special events, maintain relationships with partner agencies (including Social Service organizations) and ensure that clients are being appropriately served. The Senior Director, Geriatrics Programs will also provide direct service to clients as needed and represent the organization at meetings and conferences.

  • Salary: $100k

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute program models for the company
  • Develop and execute program models for inclusionary housing, including case assistance services and socialization opportunities
  • Develop and execute program models for Elder Abuse Prevention Program
  • Develop and execute program models for Senior repair program
  • Work with the Volunteer Services department to develop and put into place programs for clients residing in Inclusionary Housing addressing nutrition, socialization and other concrete needs
  • Staff and manage Social Workers who are culturally and linguistically and competent to provide services at housing locations to a wide range of older adults
  • Supervise departmental Program Managers
  • Provide direct client services as needed; including case management, needs assessment, financial assistance, information and referrals
  • Complete client applications for assistance and maintain appropriate paperwork and database input (i.e. AWARDS)
  • Responsible for program reports to funders and stakeholder
  • Responsible for creating program evaluations and recommendations
  • Represent the company for tasks forces and other committees
  • Develop ongoing relationships with community service providers
  • Demonstrate cultural sensitivity especially to trauma survivors, insular, immigrant and minority groups

Required Qualifications:

  • Leadership, Organization, Client Relations, Ethics and integrity in approach to interventions, Professional knowledge and expertise, Adaptability and flexibility, Planning and organizing
  • Makes timely, informed decisions that take into account fact goal constraints and risks
  • Manages time, priorities and resources to achieve goals
  • LCSW-SIFI eligible
  • Experience with holocaust survivors and geriatric social work (preferred)
  • Bi-lingual Yiddish, Russian or Spanish speaking (preferred)
  • Computer literate with working knowledge of Word and other software programs
  • Required Constantly: Walking, sitting, grasping, bending, stooping, squatting, computer input, finger dexterity and coordination of hand, eye and foot.
  • Required Frequently: Standing and climbing stairs; carrying laptop & files (approx. 8-10 lbs)
  • Required Occasionally: Reaching above the shoulder, and lifting 5-25 pounds, pushing and pulling
  • Travel around 5 boroughs via public transportation
