Location: Brunswick, ME


Pay Range: $54,750 - $68,400


Schedule: Field



Scope of Work:



A Gas Technician at Maine Natural Gas (MNG) is responsible for carrying out the tasks required for the safe operation and maintenance of MNGs Transmission system, Distribution systems, Metering & Regulating Stations, and District Regulator Stations.



MAJOR ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
:



  • Inspection of work performed by contractors.

  • Main and service installation.

  • Meter installation and reading.

  • Emergency response to gas odor calls.

  • Operation and maintenance of metering and regulating stations.

  • Operation and maintenance of district regulator stations.

  • Emergency response to alarms at stations.

  • Locating facilities in response to Dig Safe calls.

  • Periodic testing, inspection, and leak surveys.

  • Perform Gas Analysis and Safety Demonstrations.

  • Assume the duties of the Operations Supervisor in his absence.

  • Record keeping in accordance with MNGs Operating & Maintenance procedures.

  • Work with Marketing to locate meters and service for new customers

  • Development of as built drawings for new main and services.

  • Inspection of work performed by the construction coordinator.




JOB REQUIREMENTS:



Must possess a valid Maine driver's license. If coming from out-of-state, shall possess a valid driver's license in the state of residence and obtain a Maine license within three months of starting work.


Required Education & Experience:




  • High School Diploma and at least 1 year of work experience required.

  • Associates Degree in Engineering Technology or Construction Engineering preferred.

  • Maine PNT license preferred (must obtain after joining company).

  • Must be able to respond to emergency calls to service area within an hour. (Brunswick, Topsham, Bath, West Bath, Bowdoin, Freeport, Pownal, Windham, Gorham)

  • Must be available for 24/7 on call rotation.



Skills/Abilities:


A Company vehicle is assigned to each Gas Technician. It shall be the Gas Technicians responsibility to:




  • Operate the vehicle courteously and in accordance with all laws of the State of Maine or any other state in the event that out-of-state travel is required.

  • Keep the vehicle clean and neat to project a good company image

  • Assure that the vehicle receives the necessary repairs, periodic maintenance and state inspections to keep it operating safely and reliably.
