A comprehensive community college, we offer instruction in Basic Studies to include awarding a high school diploma, GED preparation, and English to Speakers of Other Languages; academic transfer and workforce education degrees and certificates; four applied baccalaureate degrees, and community education in our two-county region.


Olympic College is recruiting for a full-time tenure-track faculty to join the faculty and staff team in the Social Sciences & Humanities Division. The position will be full-time tenure-track in Music. Primary courses taught are MUSC& 141, MUSC& 142, MUSC& 143 (Music Theory I, II, III), Instrumental Music Courses (Jazz Band & Wind Ensemble), and Music History courses.Essential Functions


  • Teach
    in-person classes,
    day, evening, primarily on the Bremerton campus, and at the Poulsbo and Shelton campuses when requested;

  • Provide quality teaching, including related preparation, grading, and record keeping;

  • Provide class syllabi to students enrolled in classes by the first day of classes and to the division office as requested;

  • Identify individual learning needs of students and make appropriate adjustments in learning environments and activities to meet those needs;

  • Punctually communicate with students, faculty, staff and administrators;

  • Perform other related duties as assigned and/or required.

  • Maintain regular of?ce hours for student consultation.

  • Provide academic advising for students.

  • Attend faculty, department and division meetings and serve on college and community committees.

  • Demonstrate success incorporating accessibility and special needs accommodations via course materials and classroom activities;

  • Communicate effectively both orally and in writing in the classroom and with other professionals to maintain effective and positive working relationships;

  • Collaborate successfully with faculty, staff, and students as part of an educational team;

  • Incorporate the use of technology in the delivery of course content and services, including use of the College-approved learning management system.

  • Qualifications


    Minimum Qualifications


  • Master's degree Music (or Music Education) from an accredited college or university.

  • Experience teaching undergraduate courses in Music Appreciation, Music Theory, and Instrumental Ensembles.

  • Skilled knowledge of a varity of instruments relevant to the courses being taught, encompassing both technical proficiency and a deep understanding of the instrument's repertoire.

  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of using technology in the classroom.

  • Learning Management System software such as Canvas, and teaching delivery method on face-to-face, online hybrid, hybrid, and hybrid flex.

  • Desired Qualifications


  • Doctoral Degree in Music or Music Education.

  • Experience in audio production and recording technology.

  • Experience conducting jazz ensembles.

  • Experience building an academic music program and recruiting students.

  • Familiarity with the Washington State Community College system and Running Start.

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate musical concepts and engage students in the learning process.

    Terms of EmploymentFaculty members must submit official, unopened transcripts to the Human Resources department within 30 days of their employment.This is a full-time faculty position contracted on an annual basis. Placement on the faculty salary schedule will be commensurate with educational background and experience. The salary will be prorated to reflect the actual contract days remaining in the academic year. The salary listed is a range based on per month for the quarter. A collective bargaining agreement exists, and this position is covered by the Association for Higher Education (AHE). Flexibility is required to meet the needs of the department. Evening and/or weekend classes, instruction at satellite Olympic College campuses, and off-campus assignments may be a part of the instructional load.Full-Time Faculty qualifies for the following benefits.
