The Doe Run Company is seeking a Surveying Assistant to support mine operations by providing up to date surveys of underground work areas. This position is located at our Brushy Creek Mine in Boss, MO.

 

This position offers a competitive base pay and is eligible for the Company variable pay (bonus) plan.  Benefits start the first day and include insurance, paid time off, and various consumer discount programs.  

 

Responsibilities:


  • Assist with the daily surveying of underground mine workings by conducting work area inspections, cleaning existing reference points and setting new ones. Paint guide marks on the faces. Haul, set up, and tear down equipment. Clean equipment as needed.

  • Transfer surveying data into AutoCAD to update mine maps.

  • Create and distribute maps of the mine workings to provide guidance to the work crews and mine supervision.

  • Complete tasks in a safe and environmentally compliant manner by following EHS (environmental, health and safety) policies, procedures and best practices; support and assist peers in working in a safe, compliant manner; report unsafe acts or conditions, incidents, and deviations; and provide feedback to support continuous improvement in EHS performance.

  • Other survey related tasks as needed. 

Education & Experience:


  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.

  • Minimum 1 year of work experience in mine operations, surveying or related field

  • Valid, current driver’s license.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:


  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and drafting (AutoCAD).

  • Proficient in general math, and trigonometry helpful.

Work Environment, Physical & Lifting Requirements:


  • Regularly Computer/tablet, phone/radio, personnel carriers, use non-powered hand tools.

  • Regularly required to work underground, work in wet, humid conditions (non-weather); Frequently required to work near moving mechanical parts; May be exposed to moderate noise levels.

  • Regularly required to walk; Frequently required to drive, sit, talk, hear, stand, walk, reach with arms/hands; Occasionally required to feel attributes of objects, grasp, drive, reach with arms/hands; Rarely required to push, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb, balance; Requires clarity of vision at 20 feet or more and 20 inches or less, precise hand-eye coordination, ability to identify and distinguish colors, and three-dimensional vision.

  • Regularly required to lift up to 15 pounds; Occasionally required to lift between 16 to 25 pounds.
