Responsibilities

What you'll be challenged to do:

TranSystems' Santa Ana office seeks a motivated and talented bridge engineer to join our growing engineering team. This position will include civil engineering design, construction document preparation including CAD design, specifications and estimates for a variety of projects, including rail, road, airport infrastructure, coastal development, industrial site development, storm water management and utilities design projects.  Day to day assignments and technical guidance will be directed by current staff Project Managers. This position will also involve coordination with clients, subcontractors, vendors, and personnel in the Santa Ana office and other TranSystems offices. 

General Duties & Responsibilities

• Prepare and review design calculations


• Research design alternatives, code requirements and present findings


• Prepare and review reports, contract drawings, cost estimates and specifications


• Communicate regularly with the Project Manager as to expected results, workload, and progress


• Advocate for, lead, and mentor entry level engineers


• Communicate and attend meetings with clients, subconsultants, and other project stakeholders.


• Engage in business development activities including information gathering, preliminary design and proposal writing


• Develop accurate engineering designs and plans with quality presentation, while meeting project budgets, schedules, and company standards


• Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies

Qualifications

What you bring to our firm:

• Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering


• Working knowledge of MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, etc.


• Experience with engineering civil design packages including AutoCAD Civil3D


• Familiarity with bridge design principles


• Actively engages multiple perspectives when solving problems, seeks to learn from peers, and encourages reciprocal learning among team members.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working with Caltrans and other local transportation agencies


• Experience with civil design packages such as Microstation OpenRoads, Microstation InRoads, or Microstation Geopak


• EIT

For individuals assigned and/or hired to work in California, TranSystems is required by law to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This compensation range is specific to the State of California and takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; internal peer equity; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At TranSystems, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $80,000 annually.
