Location: Roanoke, VA plant; must be able to relocate. This is an onsite role without remote or hybrid options.

Summary

Supply Chain Materials Manager

Job Summary: This position is responsible for ensuring the timely and effective procurement, acquisition and storage of goods and services for VTC product and operations in support of the Company's business plan and budgetary parameters. He/she is thus responsible for the overall management of the Purchasing and Inventory Control functions, as directed by management.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure Procurement of the material as per requirement and following the policies
  • Ensure Ware house processes are in control with proper material accounting
  • Ensure metrics for the plant such as Inventory levels, Freight In, Delays etc are achieved by planning, coordinating , controlling the process/ function
  • Ensure processes on Hot list, EPPM, short report, kitting etc followed as per SOP.
  • Keep management informed in case of issues which may affect the business.
  • Schedule and direct the daily activities of the Purchasing Inventory Control departments so to ensure timely and effective materials procurement, delivery and storage.
  • Establish Master Schedule and all other Manufacturing planning functions
  • Track key internal and external cost indicators/factors so that cost changes and other trends can be properly monitored.
  • Maintain records of vendor/cost histories.
  • Develop and monitor internal procurement standards for cost containment and other procurement goals and objectives.
  • Maintain material cost and inventory levels as directed by VTC business plan and other management directives.
  • Provide for routine inspection of incoming materials to ensure quality levels, and correct vendor/material quality deficiencies as needed.
  • Establish and maintain a perpetual inventory on all items, including expendables, used in manufacturing processes.
  • Monitor BOM releases against slow moving or accumulated inventories for possible use on jobs being reviewed.
  • Advise management regarding cost changes when dictated by business conditions.
  • Recommend to management a frequency review schedule for the established guidelines ( e.g. Min/Max, MRP min) at not less than 6-month intervals.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the proven ability to work well with all levels of management and staff.
  • Business knowledge- Product Cycle/Manufacturing Cycle/ Markets etc.
  • Proficient with inventory reporting systems.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
  • Demonstrated managerial/supervisory experience.

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field required.
  • Five years materials/procurement management experience in related heavy manufacturing environment.
  • Certification in Materials preferred.
