Chief of Staff - Office to the CEO

Position Purpose

The purpose of the Chief of Staff (COS) is to enable the CEO and the executive team to make better decisions, faster. In doing so, the COS will be responsible for the management of initiatives which are of high priority to the CEO, Leadership Team, and Board. This shall include leading strategic assessments, seeing company-wide projects to completion, and assisting the CEO with the day-to-day activities associated with running a growing, mid-sized business. This position does not have operational or direct line responsibility, nor will it have any direct reports. The main objective for this position is to be an extension of the CEO ensuring that strategic and value creation initiatives and projects get executed effectively and efficiently.

Key capabilities include: Gift card systems and transaction progressing, physical card printing and order management, merchandising (e.g., gift card holder printing, countertop displays),

Job Description & Outcomes

This is a newly created position. Reporting directly to the CEO, it will offer executive-level exposure and cross-departmental experience at a search fund private equity-backed business. The individual will have the opportunity to make impactful contributions as they manage mission-critical initiatives and projects. The position will involve direct interaction with the executive team, board of directors, and corporate partners.

  • Serves as a strategic advisor and counsel to CEO, bringing together various stakeholders to drive organizational decisions

• Evaluate company priorities, markets and trends in order to develop and oversee initiatives that proactively address opportunities and threats:

o Research the business environment and external forces

o Attend conferences and build relationships

o Develop a forward-looking point of view

o Create strategic plans and then drive results
• Monitors the flow of information: sometimes acting as a gatekeeper, ensuring the CEO's involvement in a project or decision-making process at the right moment
• Oversees large, often cross-functional organization-wide high-profile projects or initiatives and ensures they are done on schedule
• Creates systems and processes to streamline initiatives and priorities
• Acts as the vessel of communication for the CEO with other executives in the organization, including clients and/or major stakeholders
• Thrives in a medium-sized company, doing extensive amounts of work, not just delegating, while also learning a lot (projects will be constantly evolving with multiple going on at once)
• Adapts easily to dynamic, fast moving environments with changing job responsibilities as the needs of the CEO change
• Support and be a key advisor to the CEO

o Attend board meetings

o Attend executive leadership team meetings

o Engage and coordinate company personnel, maintain responsibility for follow ups, and measure outcomes of company-wide projects

o Prepare meeting agendas, priorities and presentation materials

Candidate Profile & Requirements
• Master's degree in Business Administration at leading school
  • Minimum of 4 years of relevant work experience and consistently rated as a top performer
  • Business mindset with a focus on developing creative solutions
  • Encouraging, can-do attitude
  • Strong project management, reporting and presentation skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a knack for productive collaboration
  • Experience interacting and communicating directly with management, private equity and boards
  • Expert in PPT, Excel, and financial modeling
