Amsted Rail is looking for a Test Engineer for our Granite City, IL Foundry!

Test Engineer I

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Conducts full scale static and dynamic tests of Amsted Rail products.  This includes research, planning and supervision of testing.

• Plan and conduct research necessary to execute tests


• Determine test setup and data acquisition


• Execute tests to meet specific requirements and standards


• Write reports detailing test results and maintain complete and accurate records of tests and test data


• Design, build and maintain test equipment including electronic mechanical and hydraulic systems


• Design, build test fixtures.


• Design, build safety cages and lifting rigs.


• Apply microstrain recording devices to castings and gather strain data for stress investigations


• Oversee setup of tests and create/update procedures to document test setups


• Calibrate tools and equipment necessary to complete tests


• Ensure a safe working environment at all times


• Perform day-to-day scheduling of the test teschnicians.


• Issue and track purchase requisitions for the test lab’s needs

• Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field


• Preferred experience working in the railroad industry


• Preferred experience working in a testing environment


• Basic computer skills – Work, Excel, PowerPoint, Access


• Good planning and organizational skills
