Neuromodulation Core R&D brings together project teams in a collaborative group to support R&D activities for the Neuromodulation and Pelvic Health operating units . Neuromodulation and Pelvic Health operating units offer devices and therapies to treat chronic pain, movement disorders, overactive bladder, non-obstructive urinary retention and fecal incontinence, and much more!

We are currently looking for a Senior Principal Test Engineerto join the Therapy Delivery Systems (TDS) test team in Fridley , Minnesota.Be a part of an engineering team that develops a portfolio of powerful Neuromodulation technologies, setting the highest standards of integrity and reliability in deep brain stimulation, spinal cord stimulation, targeted drug delivery, and pelvic health.

A Day in the Life

The Senior Principal Test Engineer is a key technical member of the TDS test team. In this role you will d evelop and validate new test methods , improve existing test methods, and lead the execut ion of mechanical and electrical tests for implantable leads , extensions, catheters and related accessories . This testing will be used to support regulatory submissions and ongoing new product development . You will w ork on complex technical problems to provide solutions which are highly innovative and apply advanced engineering principles, theories, and concepts .

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:


  • Lead s a group of engineers and technicians to develop innovative methods to so l ve challenging problems during each phase of product life cycle.
  • Designs, develops, and implements mechanical / electrical testing methods , fixtures, and equipment based on user needs .
  • Performs /oversees test method validation and equipment qualifications per current quality procedures .
  • Performs/oversees testing for component and assembly-level devices throughout all product development phases .
  • Compiles data and performs statistical analyses following current quality procedures (DOE, capability analysis, gage R&R, ANOVA, 2-sample t - test, etc ) .
  • Effectively communicates test plans and results to key stakeholders .
  • Trouble shoot s test failures and propose s efficient and quality-driven solutions .
  • Utilizes subject matter expertise of product use conditions and applied stresses to products during entire implant lifecycle .
  • Leads or s upport s animal and human cadaver studies to help define clinically accurate use condition requirements for verification testing or to demonstrate that products meet requirements (GLP study) .
  • Provides team leaders with accurate test timeline and cost estimates.
  • Represent s test function in project teams; r esponsible for entire testing deliverables for projects and reporting to project teams .
  • Provide s leadership, direction, and coaching for junior engineers and technicians .
  • Initiate s and implement s strategy for acquiring new test platforms .

Must Have: Minimum Requirements


  • Bachelors degree B iomedical /Electrical/Mechanical engineering required
  • Requires a University Degree and minimum of 10 years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience

Nice to Have


  • Strong technical communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Experience in test development or product development in a highly regulated environment.
  • Extensive experience with t est fixture design and materials (3D printing and machining).
  • Experience in engineering environment with cross-functional engineering teams.
  • Demonstrated e xperience in using engineering statistical tools/methods such as DOE, Monte Car lo , Minitab , or JMP .
  • Demonstrated experience with Creo , Solidworks , or equivalent CAD software.
  • Experience with test method validation ( TMV), gage R & R , Equipment IQ/ OQ.
  • Lean s igma or DRM (design for reliability and manufacturability) or design for lean sigma Green Belt certification preferred .
  • Extensive experience with mechanical test platforms ( Instron , Bose, and MTS Universal ) preferred.
  • Extensive experience with fatigue testing (LCF and HCF) preferred.
  • Experience with data acquisition and analysis software such as Lab V iew , M ATLAB preferred .
  • Experience with X-Ray, CT, and MRI image processing software ( i.e., Mimics , 3-Matic, Amira, and 3D Slicer ) preferred.

The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico. Base pay is based on numerous factors and may vary by job-related knowledge, skills, experience, etc. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).
