Your Boss: You'll report directly to the VP of Computational Biology.
Your Job: You're the bridge between our core R&D team and the outside world, using computational wizardry to make sense of complex biological data. Your main tasks involve developing models and algorithms that help with our research and assay development, especially in collaboration with big names in academia and industry. You're also part manager, part doer, leading an existing team while getting your hands dirty in the data yourself.
Key Responsibilities:
Planning: Work out study plans with lab scientists for collaborations that show off what our technology can do.
Data Analysis: Take charge of analyzing data from ongoing research and assay development to improve our technology and methods.
Analytical Pipelines: Develop systems for analyzing big, complicated data sets we collect.
Team Leadership: Guide a group of PhD-level computational scientists, directing their work and helping them grow professionally.
Continuous Learning: Keep up with the latest research to ensure our data analysis methods are always top-notch.
What You Need to Bring to the Table:
Education & Experience: A PhD in a numbers-heavy field like bioinformatics or computational biology (or similar areas), with at least 12 years of experience. Plus, at least 3 years leading a team of senior scientists.
Technical Skills: A strong foundation in the biology behind the data, and you're a pro with programming languages like R and Python.
Communication: You're good at talking and working with people, both in your team and across different departments.
Nice-to-Haves:
Experience with single-cell biology and Nextflow would be great but not a deal-breaker.
