Job Description:

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Verify with the Inspector of the previous shift and / or the immediate Supervisor of the service schedule of activities to start work, as well as give the continuation of the service during the shift and/or the Inspector of the next shift.

  • Verify the general and operating conditions of the equipment, the workstation, and its components, requesting maintenance in the event of irregularities, to carry out its activities within the expected safety, quality and productivity standards.

  • Verify the instructions and/or specifications of the material to be inspected through the material control, TTI, PSI and/or identification instruction sheets, to begin the inspection process.

  • Verify and calibrate the Ultrasound Equipment, the Magnetic Particle Equipment and Electromagnetic Equipment according to defined Vallourec internal procedures and customer requirements, using the reference piece/test joint and checking the indications on each method to ensure that the inspection is made correctly.

  • Perform the changeover of the Automated Equipment (UT and EMI) according to pipe dimension (OD and WT) and perform the equalization of the sensors and/or probes of each equipment according to internal NDT procedures.

  • Verify the tubes indicated on the automated test using NDT methods such as ultrasound and magnetic particle to identify the indications and perform the disposition according to the operating procedures.

  • Remove the indicated defects on external surface of the pipes using manual grinding device, verify the remaining wall of the pipe and the quantity removed by grinding the surface of the pipe, as well as do the disposition of the material to verify if it is within the dimensional tolerances after repair the defect.

  • Visual inspection of external and internal surface of the seamless pipes in order to identify and classify discontinuities x

  • Provide feedback to Supervisor team and production process to find the root cause of defect generation.

  • Ensure the organization and hygiene of the workstation and the maintenance and conservation of the equipment and tools under its responsibility.

  • Participate in the management and quality programs promoted by the company (5S, CIT groups, Maintenance groups, Big Opportunity groups, Result Accelerator groups, etc.),


 


Defect Categorization:



  • Determine Sample sizes and frequencies of NDT defects detected.

  • Coordinate the preparation of samples for analysis.

  • Physically analyze samples to determine detailed defect categorization

  • Send samples to laboratory for analysis, if necessary


 


Workstation Audits / Improvements:



  • Collect NDT data (Key Performance Indicators)

  • Do daily verifications of execution of Inspection Standard Work

  • Timely report to Vallourec Management any deviation from Vallourec Standards or Practices

  • Actively participate in Vallourec-led Continuous Improvement efforts.

  • Proactively provide ideas to improve existing NDT work flow, equipment and process reliability.


 


EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, AND KNOWLEDGE:



  • Capable to do calculations of a second degree equation, Snell’s law, used to describe the relation between the angles of incidence and refraction of UT beam and some electromagnetism formulas.

  • To know, apply and promote standards aimed at occupational safety and environmental preservation, participating in the programs promoted by the company, contributing to the elimination of situations that may represent risks of accidents at work and environmental degradation.

  • Prefer at least one (1) year of experience in OCTG - NDT and/or Quality.

  • Prefer experience as Quality auditor, Lab technician, Inspector of threading and/or other related manufacturing experience.


 


EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND CERTIFICATIONS:



  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

  • Prefer Engineering background and/or Technician certification.

  • Prefer NDT Level 1 or 2 certification in: Ultrasound Testing (UT), Electromagnetic Inspection (EMI) and Magnetic Particle Inspection (MPI).
