Federal Reserve Financial Services (FRFS) delivers a suite of payments services to financial institutions via FedLine® Solutions, Fedwire®, National Settlement Service (NSS), FedCash®, FedACH®, and Check Services. As a Senior Industry Relations Representative, you will lead large-scale programs in support of our focus on external engagements and payments system improvement initiatives. This position is responsible for supporting critical strategic objectives to ensure that the payment system evolves with safety, accessibility, and efficiency.

This role requires exceptional coordination and communication skills, knowledge of the financial services and payment industry and the ability to work independently and strategically to achieve organizational objectives. The level of work required is considered advanced and staff must be able to work under minimal supervision. This position does not have direct reports.

Your Responsibilities:


  • Conduct industry outreach and exploration on alternative payments analyzing the landscape, identifying potential opportunities, trends, new technologies, risks and barriers.

  • Build complex project plans, coordinate reviews and approvals, and proactively manage the process to meet deadlines.

  • Gather input from and coordinate with internal cross-functional partners (including marketing, strategic industry engagement, market intel, product, legal, customer relations) to drive creation and execution of strategy and tactics.

  • Collaborate and network with payments industry stakeholders (banking, payments vendors, processors, etc.) to understand and address barriers and other issues related to implementation of payments in the US.

  • Stay informed on available academic and industry payments literature and studies that relate to emerging payment trends and behaviors.

Your Background:


  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience

  • 5-8 years of work experience related to the financial services or payments industry.

  • Prior product management, project management or program management.

  • Experience with the development of strategic outreach plans, especially as it pertains to emerging payment trends/topics.

Your Knowledge & Skills:


  • Knowledge of US payment systems and infrastructures including legacy (ACH, card, wire) and emerging rails/technologies (faster/instant payments, digital assets, etc.).

  • Interest in learning and conducting research and outreach to understand new payments trends and their impacts.

  • Demonstrates the ability to think strategically and creatively to solve complex problems.

  • Advanced level of attention to detail resulting in high-quality, highly organized programs.

  • Ability to negotiate and influence without direct authority, demonstrating strong interpersonal skills.

  • Possesses strong communication skills, in both verbal and written form, able to craft communication for a variety of stakeholders.

  • High level of self-motivation and initiative; strong team player.

  • Writing and editing skills with an ability to synthesize complex topics and information.

Must be willing to travel up to 10% of time.

Candidates that live near one of our Reserve Bank locations will be provided some work from home flexibility. Rules for hybrid work arrangements differs from Bank to Bank and should be discussed during the interview process.

This position requires access to confidential supervisory information and/or FOMC information, which is limited to "Protected Individuals" as defined in the U.S. federal immigration law.
