In addition to the project work, Medline will provide you with learning, networking, and social opportunities throughout the internship.

The Seasonal Helper will be in the Engineering department andwill work directly with senior engineers and focus on projects assigned from upper management. The scope of work could include product integration (across divisions), product development, process development (and improvements), process validations, work measurements and standards, cost-benefit analysis and justification, data analysis, basic problem solving activities and other assigned tasks as needed. Some assignments will be individual while others will be group-oriented, and project lengths will vary from small daily activities to large-scale projects spanning the duration of the internship.

Examples of possible projects include:


  • Coordinate and execute problem-solving activities at Laredo Facility.

  • Identification and elimination of seven waste activities.

  • Process mapping and work studies to improve labor efficiency.

  • Analyze and correct bottlenecks in production processes.

  • Execute time studies for new assemblies or cost-benefit analysis.

  • Process development, materials and process validations.

  • Conduct test and trials for process validations or feasibility studies.

  • Designing of optimization programs for warehouse and manufacturing.

  • Collaboration in designing floor plans for facility expansion projects.

We are seeking a dynamic, creative and hard-working professional looking for hands on medical device industry experience at a large healthcare organization.

Qualifications:


  • Background in Industrial, Mechanical, Electrical, Electronic, Mechatronic or Chemical Engineering.
  • Junior standing with a 3.0 minimum GPA preferred.
  • Strong leadership abilities and demonstrated problem solving skills.
  • Excellent organization, communication, data analysis and follow up skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products.
  • Experience with SolidWorks (or other CAD) preferred.
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing/Continuous Improvement principles preferred.
  • Knowledge of database applications (Access, FoxPro) is a plus.
  • Unrestricted permanent US work authorization.
