Job Summary

Manages the wholesale natural gas sales and services with a wide variety of new and existing industrial, commercial and utility customers. Coordinates all commercial sales activities within an assigned region, including commodity sales, product development, risk mitigation, contracts, asset development and acquisition and other ancillary services as required by customers. Directs support functions, including Gas Supply, Operations, Credit, Risk Control, Legal, Business Development and Accounting.

Essential Functions

  • Negotiates natural gas commodity sales agreements with customers.
  • Negotiates structured gas services agreements with customers incorporating storage, transportation, load following and optionality.
  • Negotiates facilities agreements with customers in support of capital expenditures by the company.
  • Negotiates monthly and daily sales agreements as required by customers.
  • Initiates, develops, and maintains customer relationships.
  • Seeks out and identifies prospective customers and coordinates with other colleagues to establish new business relationships.
  • Maintains current knowledge of fundamental and technical market variables to provide customer driven pricing solutions.
  • Maintains understanding and comprehension of market dynamics impacting competition.
  • Coordinates with Contract Administration and Legal to initiate and amend contracts.
  • Coordinates with Wholesale Trading and Operations to monitor and balance sales volumes.
  • Participates in professional and other trade organizations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education/Certification/Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, economics, finance, marketing, or engineering from accredited college or university or eight years of equivalent experience in Wholesale Trading, Natural Gas Sales or the commercial activity associated with Natural Gas Sales.

  • Able to perform complex spreadsheet calculations to analyze customer-pricing options.

  • Able to understand and discuss industrial and commercial energy processes.
  • Able to objectively analyze sales, transportation and supply alternatives and develop the most advantageous combination.
  • Able to respond decisively to unexpected changes in market conditions and emergency situations.
  • Able to manage price exposure effectively and efficiently while maintaining reliable customer service.
  • Evaluate complex weather models to determine potential effect on market prices.
  • Able to provide a valid state driver’s license and maintain a clear driving record.
  • Able to demonstrate commitment to compliance with applicable laws and regulations, the Company’s Ethics and Compliance Code of Conduct, and other Company policies and procedures.

Physical Requirements

  • Able to effectively communicate orally and in writing, utilizing clear and concise language.
  • Able to perceive and understand verbal communication in person, as well as over communication devices such as telephone or mobile phone.
  • Able to visually perceive information on a personal computer monitor or laptop screen for extended periods of time.
  • Capable of operating a personal computer, whether it is a desktop or laptop, for extended periods of time to create, compose, and review documents and spreadsheets.
  • Competent in operating office equipment, including but not limited to telephones, mobile phones, photocopiers, scanners, and calculators.
  • Able to reach, grasp, and manipulate items necessary to perform job tasks.
  • Able to remain in a stationary position for extended periods of time as required by job responsibilities.
  • Proficient in speaking, reading, and comprehending the English language.
  • Able to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a minimal amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.

Working Conditions

  • Able to work in a fast-paced office environment with a high-volume workload, including the possibility of working beyond standard hours and on nights/weekends to meet deadlines.
  • Able to work indoors, in an office environment, regardless of whether it is an open office, cubicle or private office.
  • Able to travel occasionally, possibly overnight, and to attend meetings and conferences, when required.
