Brief Description of PSU/School/Dept | PSU Government Relations is located in the Office of the President. We coordinate the university’s legislative and advocacy efforts at the federal, state, and local levels by building and strengthening relationships with PSU’s constituencies and encouraging investment in and support for the university, its programs, and its initiatives. PSU Government Relations works closely with staff, faculty, and students to identify opportunities to highlight research, grow programming, and facilitate connections with policymakers and other stakeholders. We are the liaison between the university and local, state, and federal governments and agencies. |

Position Summary | The Public Affairs Coordinator provides administrative support to the President’s Office, the Board of Trustees, the Government Affairs Office, and the Office of Institutional Research and Planning. PSU’s Office of Government Relations represents the interests of the University before the Oregon Legislature, Oregon state agencies (including, but not limited to, the Oregon Higher Education Commission), local government bodies, Congress, and federal agencies. |

Total Compensation Range & Benefits Statement | Salary is dependent on several factors, and new employees will typically start around the Q1 level to allow for later growth within the salary band. PSU has a structured process for determining starting compensation, taking into account years of related experience, applicable skills, knowledge and abilities, market parity, and internal equity. The starting annual salary for this position will be $39,384 – $45,780. Portland State has an excellent benefits package including 95% employer-paid health insurance premiums (employees and eligible dependents) and significantly reduced tuition rates for employees and eligible dependents at any of the Oregon Public Universities. After completing six full months employees are eligible to choose between our two employer-paid pension programs in addition to two voluntary retirement programs.
