Job SummarySul Ross State University's Title III Grant seeks an Internship Coordinator. Under the direction of the Executive Director and Director, the Internship Coordinator (IC) is responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of the Title III STEM Internship Program, assigning interns to various departments, and managing site supervisors; acts as a liaison between internship opportunities and SRSU.

Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe duties listed below are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work that may be performed. The omission of specific statements and duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment to this job.Establish internship opportunities for students in STEM, help implement the STEM faculty Internship Program to provide opportunity to SRSU STEM students to accrue current real-world experience in the STEM workforce. The IC works to establish partnerships with regional/local STEM employers who are interested in partnering; make connections with interested SRSU faculty to participate in the Internship Program. Work with the SRSU Career services to connect students with internship opportunities, especially during the summer.
The project-based learning style within the internship program wi11 allow students to integrate skills and knowledge acquired across multiple disciplines and better prepare for STEM careers; these pathways will be built across academic programs and departments, and across institutions as SRSU extends and expands articulation agreements with 2-year HSIs throughout the region. Pathways will include paired co-requisite and/or co-taught courses to emphasize an interdisciplinary nature, retain students who are already enrolled in STEM programs, and attract additional students into STEM programs.The IC may aid the Title III Director in the production and facilitation of the Student Success Institute (SSI) Summer Bridge Program; for incoming STEM students who have not fulfilled state-level college­ readiness requirements in Math or English Language Arts (Integrated Reading and Writing).

Working Conditions

Usual: Office conditions; standard hours; exempt from overtime provisions. Position is Security Sensitive.

Texas Law requires a 60 day waiting period before new state employees are eligible to enroll in health insurance.

Sul Ross State University Alpine Campus is in the Scenic Davis Mountains of West Texas, is a member of the Texas State University System, is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to award Associate, Bachelor's, and Master's degrees, and has an enrollment of approximately 2,000 students of campus in Alpine, Texas. At an elevation of 4,480 feet, and on the periphery of the Chihuahuan Desert, Alpine enjoys mild winters and cool summers. Davis Mountains State Park, Fort Davis National Historic Site, Big Bend National Park, and Guadalupe Mountains National Park are all within one to three hours driving distance from Alpine.


The SRSU campuses in Del Rio, Eagle Pass, and Uvalde comprise Rio Grande College. RGC offers upper-level courses leading to bachelor's degrees as well as master's degree programs and works closely with its partner institution, Southwest Texas Junior College, to provide a seamless transition to RGC for their students. All RGC students hold an Associate degree from an accredited institution or they have completed 42 semester credit hours of transferrable work.
