Epsilon Systems Solutions, Inc. is seeking a full time Main Propulsion Technician II/Main Reduction Gear Subject Matter Expert in San Diego, CA.

Summary: This position will provide support to the U.S. Navy for recurring assessments and repair of various shipboard main propulsion systems and components.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide engineering technical support for the following Main Machinery Space Support Systems Propulsion Support Components and Systems:

    • fuel and lube oil purifiers

    • fuel oil systems

    • main propulsion lube oil systems and associated support

    • valves

    • Main Reduction Gears (MRG)

    • attached lube oil and Controllable Pitch Propeller (CPP) pumps

    • propulsion shafting

    • stern tube seals

    • stern tube and line shaft bearings

    • bulkhead seals and associated systems

    • Propeller blades

    • CPP equipment excluding the hydraulic system components

  • Completes assessment or Technical Assist, and provides repair recommendations to the branch head in a Report or TAVR format as required for review and issuance on the equipment.

  • Conducts ship visits to provide technical guidance for repairs, troubleshooting or testing as requested for urgent or routine requests.

  • Conducts on-the-job training for Ships Force Maintenance personnel. The training must include adjustments, repairs, troubleshooting techniques and equipment/personnel safety.

  • Communicates with and conduct a debrief of cognizant Ships Force personnel reporting conditions found, repairs completed and/or required and training conducted with current operational condition. Any unresolved conditions must be briefed to the ship's Commanding Officer and Chief Engineer with corrections required.

  • Drives while traveling to perform job duties.

  • Assists with the research and technical resolution of Departures from Specification (DFS).

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

  • Minimum 4 years' experience with Equipment listed in the duties and responsibilities

  • Active DOD Secret Security Clearance

  • Possess certification from or Attend GEAR 101 TRAINING hosted by Philadelphia Timken Gears and Services, Inc. within one-hundred eighty (180) calendar days of hire.

Pay Range:

The pay range for this role is $23.31 To $32.30 hourly. This is a reasonable estimate for this role. Individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.

ADA Notations:

  • Must be able to lift, carry and transport heavy equipment and boxes up to 50 lbs

  • Able to work on and climb ladders, work in extreme temperature environments, aboard ships, in shipyards, under industrial conditions and in confined spaces

  • Able to perform other duties as required which may involve high heat, humidity, noise and dirty conditions, working aloft or over the sides of vessels

  • May ride ships at sea for extended periods

  • Travel may be required within and outside of the continental United States
