About the role

PKL Services will be providing contractor Organizational Level (O-Level) maintenance in support to 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing (3rd MAW) squadrons at Marine Corps Air Station Yuma, AZ.

PKL employees at these sites may eventually be subject to a Union/Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) regarding employment terms and work rules.

The Aircraft Mechanic III (Low Observations) performs scheduled/unscheduled Organizational Level maintenance on F-35 aircraft airframe, power plants, structures, and related systems. This mechanic must have a combination of experience to repair composite and sheet metal, aircraft structures and hydraulic components of a difficulty level deemed moderate to complex.
Additional duties include:
Responsible for all aircraft low observable outer mold line structures, materials, and applications. Prepares composite or metallic surfaces for coating applications by performing various operations such as sanding, stripping, applying vacuum, performing porosity testing, masking, and other preparation tasks. Mixes and applies sealants, gap fillers and any other required processes prior to paint which may require the use of heating devices. Mixes and applies paints and other coatings at the proper spraying consistencyand brush/roller application. Applies additional surface details to manufacturer specifications. Performs or coordinates component-level testing for specification compliance after applications have been completed. May perform similar duties in aircraft maintenance, modification, or maintenance role. Verifiesapplication/conditionof installed LO materials for conformity to specifications and determines material required to perform repairs. Removes, takes corrective action, and makes reinstallations for design and modification changes. Sets up and operates various types of material testers and mixers. Troubleshoots, repairs and services aircraft systems. Conducts diagnosis of malfunctions Performs maintenance, disassembly, rework, repair, replacement, re-assembly, or adjustment of various aircraft systems in accordance with technical specifications, engineering instructions, Naval Aviation Maintenance Program (NAMP) as promulgated by COMNAVFORINST 4790.2 (series) and applicable publications, technical directives, instructions, standards, and/or procedures contained in pertinent manuals utilizing blueprints, drawings, or schematics pertinent to this Performance Work Statement as provided by the COR. Adhere to the Aircraft Confined Space Program Properly utilize associated PPE Occasionally travel Be available to work day shift or night shift Pass the Governments F-35 Low Observable Systems Technician Course (If not previously qualified) Any and all other duties as assigned by the Program Manager/Site Manager.

About you

High School Diploma or equivalent. May require a minimum of eight (8) years USN/USMC/USAF Organizational level aircraft airframes/structural and corrosion control experience for the F-35 aircraft to meet established experience thresholds. Preferred LO qualified on the F-35. Shall have completed the appropriate Navy Skill Specialty Class "C" school in airframes systems or USMC, USAF equivalent. If deemed by the Site Manager, this individual must acquire all Support Equipment licenses that are required for the position. Must have and maintain a valid State Drivers License Past experience in troubleshooting and repairing airframe related systems to the F-35 series aircraft.

Within 90 days of hiring, applicants will be required to have the technical ability to qualify as a F-35 Collateral Duty Quality Assurance Representative (CDQAR).

Must possess the ability to work independently, without technical guidance, to perform all tasks outlined in the Interactive Electronic Maintenance Manual (IETM).

Will be familiar with all publications relevant to the maintenance of the F-35 appropriate to the assignment and have a thorough practical and theoretical knowledge of the equipment/systems.

Will possess knowledge of the learning process and how to transfer technical knowledge to less qualified personnel, including the ability to express thought in both oral and written communications.

Shall possess a thorough understanding or become familiar and proficient with NALCOMIS OOMA automated maintenance documentation system within 90 days of employment.

Knowledge of Naval Aviation Maintenance Procedures (NAMP) publications and Maintenance Requirement Cards (MRCs).

Ability to troubleshoot engines, APU, secondary power, and airframe related systems.

Correctly interpret schematic diagrams.

Correctly interpret applicable technical data.

Correctly demonstrate use and care of power tools, test equipment and precision measuring devices in the maintenance and repair of aircraft.

This position will require U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance.

This is a full time/ non-exemptposition. $36.74 hour $4.57 hr. as a Health & Welfare benefit. The company sponsors medical, dental, vision, basic life coverage plans for the employee/family. Employee contributions required. 401k plan. Eleven (11) paid holidays per year. 80 vacation PTO hours on anniversary of hire. Up to a maximum 56 paid sick hours each year. 3 paid days for bereavement PTO. Employee Assistance Program (no cost). Anticipate a Union CBA in near future.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Primarily in a workshop environment but may traverse into high noise areas or near active jet aircraft operating ramps. Ability to both sit and stand for long periods of time. Ability to perform repetitive motion (keyboarding, 10-key). This position requires normal physical functions. Work may require frequent bending, reaching, and climbing. May frequently lift and carry items weighing up to fifty pounds and occasionally lift heavier items with the assistance of other workers. Work may be performed on top or under equipment in cramped or awkward positions. Normal color perception required. The noise level in the primary work environment is usually moderate. May be exposed at times to moderate discomforts such as heat, cold, rain, wind.
