Summary of Role:

Join the team responsible for Data Governance, Master Data Management and Data Quality. This is a critical role focused on GlobalFoundries Data Governance and Management. The individual will partner with business to create and ensure adoption of data governance policies, standards and operating models. The Data Governance Manager will be the primary point of contact for anything related to enterprise data governance, cutting across business units and data domains.



Essential Responsibilities:



  • Advise on and maintain data policies, standards, and guidelines that reflect the firm's data strategy and risk tolerance


  • Collaborate with data privacy and security teams to ensure data policies comply with privacy and security requirements relevant for the semiconductor industry (like, ITAR)


  • Conduct Risk Analysis for policy compliance


  • Engage Data Governance Board to craft policy-as-code adherence/validation framework


  • Support the education of data governance and data management best practices across the firm


  • Deliver thought leadership for future data governance and management techniques and processes


  • Manage any data governance working groups or initiatives that form to solve specific business problems, like a new policy or a new data quality process


  • Develop, publish, and implement a comprehensive data governance framework, including policies, procedures, and standards for data management


  • Establish data governance roles, responsibilities, and accountability structures within the organization


  • Partner with Business Units and Data Owners to identify data domains, entities, attributes, and associated business events and capture data management requirements, including data quality and governance


  • recommend data governance and data quality metrics and measure the progress of the Data Governance program


  • Support efforts to implement data classification and data categorization schemes to ensure proper handling and protection of sensitive data


  • Collaborate with IT teams to implement data governance tools and technologies, including data lineage, data profiling, and data quality tools


  • Prepare and deliver comprehensive reports and presentations on data governance initiatives, progress, and compliance for executive management and other key stakeholders


  • Provide guidance and support to data stewards and data owners in their roles and responsibilities related to data governance


  • Stay updated with industry best practices and evolving regulatory requirements related to data governance and assist efforts to ensure compliance with relevant data protection laws


  • Educate and raise awareness among associates about data governance principles, policies, and practices through training programs and communication initiatives


  • Work with cross-functional teams to ensure data governance is integrated into various data-related initiatives, such as system implementations, data integration, data migration, and analytics projects


  • Drive continuous improvement efforts in data governance technologies, practices, and processes to enhance data quality and integrity





Other Responsibilities:



  • Lead the selection, implementation and adoption of a data governance tool/application to for enterprise-wide data catalog, related metadata management, data quality and data lineage solutions


  • Develop an internal data products marketplace to provide a business-friendly platform for users to find, understand and use data assets.




Required Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/Information Systems or related field. Advanced degree or MBA preferred


  • Proven experience (8+ years) in data governance, data management, or a related field


  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to develop effective teams, hold associates accountable for results, and the ability to manage and lead through change


  • Strong data management and subject matter expertise on a data management platform or equivalent data management toolset (Collibra, Alation), including data governance, data catalog, data lineage, data privacy, and data quality


  • Strong comprehension of governance best practices, industry standards, and principles including lineage, quality, data classification, controls, lifecycle management, and ownership requiring attention, remediation, and maintenance


  • Experience working with business user communities to support data management requirements


  • Experience working on implementations supporting regulatory standards for data, GDPR, CCPA, Sarbanes Oxley, or other regulatory control-based audits


  • Project management skills to drive data governance initiatives and ensure timely delivery with quality results in an efficient and effective manner


  • Stakeholder engagements at all levels to encourage partnership, strategic alignment, and build relationships


  • Embrace innovation and efforts to elevate and evolve processes


  • Demonstrate leadership courage and empower associates to take ownership and accountability


  • Excellent analytical capabilities, executive presence, critical thinking, and the ability to translate complex data governance requirements into practical solutions


  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present to internal and external stakeholders





Expected Salary Range

$98,200.00 - $187,100.00
