Our current hybrid approach requires staff to work onsite a minimum of two days each week, every Tuesday and one other day, to be determined by their business unit. Hybrid staff are also welcome to come in additional days each week or may be asked to come in on other days by their manager.

 DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW

The Member Engagement Team of Local Development & Marketing helps to engage and identify new members and cultivate, steward and increase commitments of existing relationships between the GBH Educational Foundation and its membership and in-kind donor constituency, while adhering to the highest standards of quality and service for which GBH is known. The team also provides partnership opportunities to local companies and organizations that share with GBH a common value and commitment to the education and cultural enrichment of our community. Through various levels of participation and project areas, such as Auctions, Community and Membership Event Productions, Festivals, Volunteers, New Product Development, the Member Engagement team helps to support GBH’s ongoing fundraising efforts and mission.

JOB OVERVIEW

The Event Producer is responsible for the design, execution and post event reporting of in-person, virtual and hybrid GBH events. These events range in size from 50 to 3000 people. The Event Producer is responsible for roughly 20 – 35 GBH events and 20 – 30 Facility Rental events in a typical year. This person will be responsible for developing and executing virtual and in-person events that appeal to our current donors and attract new audiences. The focus will be on revenue generating events. The Event Producer will manage many critical components, including the development of new and recurring events and possible festivals built largely around GBH content. The Event Producer will also be responsible for creating member prospecting and cultivation opportunities in connections with these events to include writing fundraising text, making event pitches and coordinating with Pledge to maximize the revenue for each event.  Each event will have a data and direct fundraising goal which the Event Producer will use strategically and past learning to meet. Fundraising and data are at the base of all event decisions. The Event Producer will be responsible for forming and maintaining partnerships outside the Foundation to help facilitate member experiences and discounts.  This position will be required to produce and maintain event budgets, vendor bidding and relations, talent procurement, permitting with the city of Boston, design, and marketing text and plans and technical execution of in-person and virtual event platforms. The Event Producer should be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and capable of working on several events at once.

In addition to their internal efforts, the Event Producer will also be charged with managing GBH’s facility rental program which allows external organizations, companies, and individuals to rent GBH’s space for their own private event. The Event Producer will be responsible for selling the space, creating and sticking to cost estimates, setting up contracts, managing logistics and communicating with all the internal teams that need to be kept informed about all event decisions and being onsite to ensure the event is running smoothly and to act as a recourse for the client.

This person will report to the Director of Events and Engagement and will work closely with other team members on key initiatives, including events and other promotional opportunities, and will take a lead in coordinating such activities with other departments within the Foundation.

RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Oversee the management, development and execution of GBH fundraising events.  These events will include a range of in-person, virtual and hybrid events that build on what is already established and will also allow for the opportunity testing of new initiatives and outlining of best practices. Responsibilities include event budgets, vendor bidding and relations, talent procurement, permitting, design, event marketing and technical execution of virtual event platforms.


  • Management of the Facility Rental Program and act as liaison between external clients and all internal departments involved in event production.


  • Incorporate fundraising events and email asks while working with Pledge to maximize the revenue for each event. 


  • Organize and manage the vendor program including contracting deals that save on event costs and bring in new opportunities

  • Demonstrated event and project management skills required with emphasis on coordinating efforts across multiple teams is essential


  • Ability to meet multiple competing deadlines critical


  • Ability to collaborate, effectively articulate goals and objectives to gain understanding and buy-in from stakeholders is essential


  • Strong negotiation skills


  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are required


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelors degree or equivalent work experience are required. Experience in event management, communications, marketing, or related discipline required. Minimum of 4 years of experience producing events and at least 2 years of experience producing virtual events. Experience with Zoom Webinar is essential. Experience with other virtual event platforms is welcome. Experience in Marketing, Budget Oversight, Vendor Negotiation and Strategic Planning are required.
