About the Role


Kitsap Credit Union is hiring a full-time hourly Advocacy & Community Development Administrator to work hybrid out of our Harborside corporate office in beautiful Bremerton, WA. This position reports to the Director, Administration and provides confidential administrative support, primarily coordination of the Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFI) initiative. This role will act as primary contact and administrator, managing grants, operations, compliance, and outreach for the growth of KCU CDFI programs.

What you will do

  • Provide administrative advocacy support at the direction of the Director, Administration.
  • Stay apprised of and promote education within the organization about the impact of public policy decisions on credit unions and the community.
  • Assist with development, implementation, and oversight of the organization's advocacy strategies and policy priorities. Develop and manage a strategic advocacy plan rooted in outreach, support, and education that advances the credit union's work in the community.
  • Support and facilitate the operations and initiatives of the organization as a Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI).
  • Work collaboratively and effectively with internal stakeholders and external consultants to develop and meet CDFI grant goals and timelines.
  • Coordinate CDFI outreach, developing and maintaining relationships with key partners and stakeholders, such as community organizations, nonprofits, and government agencies. Facilitate collaboration and partnership opportunities to maximize the impact of CDFI work and ensure alignment with community needs. Work with diverse groups of people and advocate for the needs of underserved communities.
  • Coordinate and implement community development programs and projects to address the financial needs of underserved communities and disburse CDFI grant funds. This may involve conducting research, identifying funding opportunities, and developing strategies to promote economic development and access to capital for individuals and businesses in these communities.
  • Collaborate with leadership to develop an annual budget, financial forecasts, and metrics that accurately report the impact of the CDFI programs. Implement and administer a system to track CDFI program data and analytics to ensure compliance with program requirements.
  • Develop outreach materials including website updates and social media posts as relevant.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of CDFI programs and initiatives; data collection and analysis, preparing reports, and making recommendations for improvements.
  • Research, compile, draft, edit, and proofread correspondence, documents, presentations, proposals, and reports.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality inside and outside of the credit union, relative to any information received directly or indirectly at all times.



Basic Qualifications

  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent.
  • Must have a comprehensive understanding of financial services, community development principles, and government regulations.
  • Must have knowledge and substantive experience in grant administration and program coordination.
  • Must possess a proficient level of computer and internet literacy, including at least three years' experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Visio) and Adobe Acrobat Pro, as well as an aptitude for mastering new computer applications.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite software.
  • Demonstrates a high level of engagement and active collaboration contributing to a positive team environment.
  • Understand, model, and represent KCU's core values.



Preferred Qualifications
  • Combination of education and experience equivalent to three years in a financial and/or related environment preferred.
  • Preferred knowledge and experience on the topics of CDFI programs and Native American / Western Washington Tribal CDFI initiatives.
