Job Description:

The Director, Contract Strategy and Operations, reporting to the Head of Distribution, Channel Operations, will be responsible for the successful management and ongoing valuation of contracts and contractual relationships with various payers (Health Plans, PBMS, MCOs, Part D, & Medicaid), and Specialty Pharmacies that provide access to argenx therapies. As part of the Market Access and Distribution Organization, you will work closely with National and Regional Account Managers and Trade and Distribution team members.

Roles and Responsibilities:


  • Lead management and operations of all contracts involving payers, PBMs, state government agencies, specialty pharmacies, distributers and other pricing contracts within the channel


  • Responsible for establishing best practice and protocols for market access contracts from initiation to contract execution and renewals/exit working within the Market Access Community


  • Responsible for building and managing contract models and ongoing review of contract business value (expected and achieved)


  • Coordinate and efficiently communicate with legal, finance, drug safety and regulatory along with the broad market access & distribution team to align on contract language, identify issues and recommend solutions


  • Ensure business review and appropriate triaging of contracts in a timely manner


  • Ability to draft term sheets, bids, RFPs, agreements, communications internally and externally related to contracts


  • Responsible for timely and accurate execution of managed care & other channel discounts for the contracting operations


  • Manage third party to support all commercial components of the rebate submission process for potential rebate-based agreements encompassing receipt of invoices & reports, claims & data validation, confirmation of payment amounts and metrics analysis per AP/AR policies and procedures


  • Engage with third party related to vendor calls regarding contracting validation and accuracy of rebate requests


  • Provide insights into state-of-the-art contract management software and capabilities


  • Track and report status on contracts in various stages of contract strategy roll-out (contract development, documents issued, red-lining, pending signature, received) and ensure preparation for immediate actions upon receipt (Contract set-up, Invoice discounts, Changes to existing structures, etc.)


  • Assist with reporting needs for market access & distribution contracts including, performance, terms, renewals, payers, formularies, etc.


  • Support audit process as required across the entire argenx organization


Education, Experience and Qualifications:


  • BA or BS, MBA Preferred


  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in commercial functions within the biopharmaceutical industry with 5 years in contract operations within a Market Access and/or Distribution function


  • Strong analytical skills with the capability to effectively define business issues and recommendations


  • Start-up and Launch experience a plus


  • Detail oriented with priori experience creating and deploying and executing standard operating procedures


  • Highly skilled in influencing cross-functional teams, including interfacing with key internal and external stakeholders and commercial teams


  • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills


  • Adaptive and motivated to build and lead while "rolling up their sleeves" to get it done


  • Solid business, planning and budget management acumen


  • Good understanding of regulatory and legal requirements to pharmaceutical commercial operations
