Responsibilities

What you'll be challenged to do:

TranSystems has an immediate opening for a Land Develpment Drainage Engineer to join our growing Land Development focused offices in Clearwater and/or Palmetto Florida. The Land Develpment Drainage Engineer will join our team on exciting Land Development projects and will work on drainage design with our project teams in both offices. This role may also include coordinating staff in other offices to successfully complete project assignments. The successful candidate should have a Bachelor in Science degree in Civil Engineering with a Florida Professional Engineer License with 5+ years of experience in providing site grading and stormwater calculations/modeling to meet local and state requirements. The candidate should have strong oral and written communication skills with experience with hydraulic and hydrology modeling software including ICPR, StormCAD and MODRET.  The candidate must have a desire to work in a dynamic office culture. 

 

General Duties & Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.


  • Responsible for all phases of project development related to storm water management, flood plain mitigation studies, hydraulic analysis and design, water quality calculations and storm water BMP selection.

  • Analyze information and data to perform drainage design tasks.

  • Make decisions independently on engineering problems and methods, and occasionally represent the organization in meetings to resolve important questions, and to plan and coordinate work.

  • Receive instructions from the Project Manager or Senior Project Engineers as to the general results expected.

  • Seek technical guidance on unusual or complex problems and supervisory approval on proposed plans for projects.

  • Responsible for accuracy of engineering design and plans, quality presentation, thoroughness and follow-through, and efficient conformance to budgets, schedules, and company standards.

  • Keep the Project Manager informed of workload and any changes in project schedule or scope or additional services.

  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal network, and participating in professional societies.

  • Perform as a staff advisor and consultant for technical specialty.

Qualifications

What you bring to our firm:


  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with a focus on hydrology or hydraulics

  • 5-10 years of experience 

  • Professional Engineer able to work in Florida

  • Certified Floodplain Manager

  • Local to the Tampa Bay Area,

  • State of Florida Permitting and Water Management Drainage experience

  • Actively engages multiple perspectives when solving problems, seeks to learn from peers, and encourages reciprocal learning among team members.

  • Local candidates preferred

  • Highly detail oriented and possess excellent organizational skills;

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
