Job Summary
Defines and executes the academic mission of the Program on Georgian Studies. Responsible for developing workplans and implementation strategies; with DC staff evaluates program outputs; prepares annual report to the Davis Center and sponsoring organization. Supervises a program coordinator that provides logistical and administrative support for programs, and a student research assistant that will support research and teaching activities.
Position Description
Basic Qualifications
MA in Political Science or other related field; original research and scholarly publications on Georgia history, culture, literature, and politics; experience managing undergraduate and graduate student assistants; experience making formal scholarly presentations. Must be competent in Georgian language and have significant in-country experience.
Additional Qualifications and Skills
In order to be considered for a teaching lectureship, a PhD in Political Science or other related field is required with two or more years of teaching and advising at the college level.
Working Conditions
The Davis Center staff work a hybrid schedule with 3-4 days in the office and 1-2 days remote. Wednesday is an anchor day for all staff. This position requires domestic and international travel. Must be available for evening and weekend events sponsored by the program.
Additional Information
This is a term position through June 30, 2025. Continuation of this term past June 30, 2025 is contingent upon available funding.

Work Format Details
This is a hybrid position that is based in Massachusetts. Additional details will be discussed during the interview process. All remote work must be performed within one of the Harvard Registered Payroll States, which currently includes Massachusetts, Connecticut, Maine, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Vermont, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Virginia, Washington, and California (CA for exempt positions only). Certain visa types and funding sources may limit work location. Individuals must meet work location sponsorship requirements prior to employment.

The Center does this in many ways: administering a master's program in regional studies, sponsoring seminars and conferences, supporting faculty and student research, maintaining the Davis Center Collection at Fung Library, hosting postdoctoral fellows, visiting scholars, and associates in research, publishing a journal on the Cold War, and sponsoring outreach to K-14 educators and students and the broader community.
