This is a role well suited to an ambitious professional, looking for the next step in their career. As a Chief Building Engineer, you will be responsible for:


  • You will oversee the safety and maintenance of the ammonia refrigeration plant and the PSM/RMP programs.

  • You will oversee the steam boiler plant safety and maintenance.

  • You will maintain the site Preventive Maintenance (PM) program and CERDAAC Software. You will coordinate and schedule PMs during plant shutdowns and planned production downtime, ensuring the completion of site PMs.

  • You will provide facilities technical support and training to troubleshoot or perform necessary repairs to maintain the operation of equipment.

  • You will control parts: Inventory, budgeting, and tracking system(s). Ensure adequate inventory is maintained to support the facilities team.

  • Strong leadership and supervisory approaches for work direction, motivation, performance management, and disciplinary action.

  • Strong relationships with outsides contractors and vendors to schedule service and repair facilities equipment.

  • Strong time management skills to schedule and monitor work for skilled trades every day to support the facilities team and production needs.

  • Implement and follow safety regulations ensuring safe operation and troubleshooting procedures are followed.

  • Work on assigned CAPAs and non-conformances pertaining to facilities equipment.

  • You must be willing to provide support for a 24/7 facilities operations.

Required skills to have for the success of this role:


  • 5-7 years experience with ammonia refrigeration, steam boilers, dehumidification units, Building Management Systems (BMS), HVAC, and plumbing.

  • 5-7 years experience with medical grade water/laboratory water systems, compressed air systems (desiccant dryers), vacuum systems, and comprehensive understanding of troubleshooting for mechanical/electrical/pneumatic systems.

  • 3-5 years experience in a union production facility.

  • BS/BA degree preferred.

  • Team building skills
