Responsibilities

What you'll be challenged to do:

Provides specialized expertise and manages projects in the areas of transportation planning, environmental planning and documentation, community planning and/or associated specialties.

 

General Duties & Responsibilities include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.


  • Coordinates work of project with team members and leader.

  • Administers project budgets, schedules and task requirements.

  • Proven ability to independently market the firm's services to existing and new clients.

  • Consults with superiors on unusual problems.

  • Confers with local authorities, civic leaders, social scientists, and land planning and development specialists to devise and recommend arrangements of land and physical facilities for residential, commercial, industrial, and community uses.

  • Participates on interdisciplinary teams, providing knowledge in specific planning areas.

  • Participates in the development of scopes of services and budget and schedule requirements for planning related portions of projects.

  • Organizes and attends public meetings, client meetings, and interviews.

  • Prepares reports, proposals, graphics, and presentation materials.

 

Qualifications

What you bring to our firm:


  • Bachelor's degree in a related field

  • 8 - 12 years experience is required

  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.   Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies or members of the business community.  Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format

  • Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.

  • General ability to solve practical problems.  Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, verbal, diagram, or schedule form.

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

What we’d prefer for you to bring to our firm:


  • Masters Degree desired.

  • American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) preferred.

Work Environment:


  • The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. 

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions.  The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet, however, when traveling to the client site, noise level can be loud.

Position may require some travel to offices within their respective area using various modes of transportation including automobile and airline. The employee may occassionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
