The Director of Food & Nutrition ensures quality nutritious meals are available to help our patients have the highest quality of life through the responsibility of planning and directing the total operation of the Dietary Department. Leading a team of food service employees to maintain the highest standards of food preparation, sanitation, and safety.

Qualifications:


  • Required - Must meet one of the following qualifications as outlined by the Virginia Department of Health :

    • be registered with the Commission on Dietetic Registration of the American Dietetic Association qualification standards.
    • hold a baccalaureate degree with major studies in food and nutrition from an accredited college or university and have at least two years of experience in a health care food or nutrition service.
    • have completed an approved program in food service supervision which includes major course work in food and nutrition.
    • be certified by the Certifying Board of Dietary Managers of the Dietary Managers Association with major course work in food and nutrition.
    • have successfully completed a U.S. Armed Services course in food service supervision with an emphasis in nutrition.
    • have documented evidence of at least two years satisfactory work experience in food service supervision and enroll in an approved program within 60 days of accepting responsibility for the position and complete the program within 12 months of enrollment.

  • Must be a graduate of state or ADA approved course in food services
  • One-year experience in hospital or long-term care facility food service
  • Minimum of one-year supervisory experience
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a variety of individuals
