Development Technician at PPG INDUSTRIES INC in Gainesville, Texas

Job Description:

As a Development Technician you will be responsible for the preparation and application of laboratory quantities of powder coatings, followed by testing these coatings against a wide range of specifications and customer requirements. The data generated is used to help fulfill the Technical Department's major accountabilities of product development, manufacturing and customer support.

Key Responsibilities

• Process prototype powder formulations using powder processing equipment


• Application of powder coating formulations


• Color-matching of powder coatings


• Testing and summarizing experimental results


• Ability to complete projects according to outlined scope within the established timeline


• Communication skills and the ability to work closely with other colleagues across the laboratory


• Flexibility in daily activities due to shifting priority


• Maintain and grow an understanding of relevant formulation and applications processes, as well as evaluation of samples using established methods.


• Work safely, following all lab procedures and contribute to the maintenance of high safety standards.


• Keep a clean work environment, to include the execution of routine upkeep activities in support of the entire lab

Qualifications

• A High School diploma or GED is required


• 1-2 years of lab experience (2 years college training in math/science or applicable associate's degree is beneficial)


• Strong math skills and high school chemistry is preferred


• Computer skills including Word and Excel are required


• Strong interpersonal skills and extremely resourceful
