Accountant, Fostoria, OH
Primarily responsible for monitoring 100% Guaranteed Purchase (GP) past due/payment items, ACBS loan system postings, and review and maintenance of our GPs. Secondary responsibilities are assisting the Operations Department with reconciliations, reports, GLs, backup for other postings in ACBS, etc.
Responsibilities
Run an amortization review process, at least twice a month, to identify and clear potential payment and/or past dues by working with originators, brokers, and others.
Reviews loan documents to determine if payments received and/or interest rates agree with the loan documentation.
Utilize available resources to follow up on and correct any discrepancies in loan documentation.
Book guaranteed purchases, make data corrections, and perform maintenance and process other related transactions in our ACBS loan accounting system.
Review our GP summary and other information for discrepancies and work with others to resolve those discrepancies and subsequently update ACBS to reflect the corrections.
Handle cost of funds (direct note rate [DNR]) corrections with our Funding Bank.
Provide ongoing quality internal and external customer service.
Work collaboratively with Operations, originators, brokers, our Funding Bank, guarantors, and others
Follow Association policies and manuals and helps to maintain the GP manual.
Complete training programs as organized and/or approved by AgCredit.
Assist with other Operations Department functions and any other duties as assigned by the Controller or CFO.
Secondary Responsibilities
Assist Operation's Accounting & Reporting and Loan Operations areas.
Provide backup/support for Agribusiness Loan Accountant and Other Purchases postings in ACBS.
Prepare Operations reconciliations, reports, etc.
Verify or process incoming and outgoing wire transfer requests.
Support Loan Operations with their Fiserv DNA Loan Accounting
Provide Loan Accounting support to our Ag and Rural home loan regions.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Bachelor's degree and one to three years of loan processing or accounting experience within the banking industry with a willingness to learn.
Ability to work independently and effectively with a diverse group of people under general supervision.
Demonstrates attention to detail.
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Use of discretionary judgment in making decisions and problem solving.
Knowledge or ability to learn within Excel, ACBS (and other loan accounting systems), PeopleSoft (general ledger), and other software.
Excellent organizational and communication skills.
Works independently under supervisory direction as well as work in a team atmosphere.
The ability and willingness to travel to lending offices, AgFirst Farm Credit Bank and other locations for training. Some overnight travel may be expected.
