The Junior Category Manager is responsible for managing an assigned group of products and/or services. The role involves vendor management, pricing, merchandising, and marketing with the goal of optimizing sales and meeting revenue and gross profit budgets. They will work closely with a more seasoned Category Manager who will mentor them.

Primary Responsibilities
Category Strategy
Research and analyze internal and external data and market insights.
Search for insights into consumer needs and wants.
Plan and implement long-term development strategies for product categories.
Ensure product availability.
Assortment Planning
Source new and innovative products.
Maintain schematics for each assigned category to maximize sales and profit.
Design exit strategies for unsuccessful products.
Promotions and Pricing
Assist in developing and executing promotional strategies to drive sales and meet revenue and gross profit targets.
Conduct competitive checks to ensure market alignment.
Data Analysis
Utilize data analytics tools to extract insights and make data-driven decisions.
Trace and report on key performance indicators related to category management.
Vendor Management
Build and maintain long-term relationships with vendors.
Cross-functional Collaboration
Work closely with the Operations Team by visiting sites regularly and getting feedback.
Compliance and Risk Management
Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations and industry standards.
Monitor and manage risks associated with the category, taking proactive measures to mitigate potential issues.
Any other projects assigned by the Director of Marketing.
In-depth Excel knowledge - experience working with large data sets and ability to slice and dice
Presentation skills -ability to articulate in a persuasive and effective manner
Communication and interpersonal skills - ability to communicate effectively at all levels
Management skills - includes the ability to manage time effectively and be focused on setting and executing objectives and priorities
