Job Description:

Deliver comprehensive training programs to our installation teams on-site, ensuring proficiency in the installation of busbar and switchgear systems. This position will require approximately 50% travel to various project sites across the region for the first year, with the remainder of the time spent conducting classroom-based training sessions at our facility in Columbus, Ohio. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical systems, experience with busbar and/or switchgear installations, and a passion for sharing knowledge and expertise with others.

Building a cohesive Switchgear and Busway training program aligning to operations leaders goals, analyzing and supplementing additional data as needed; partnering with Ops & Sales Managers, Product Offering and Marketing teams to leverage previously developed content; designing relevant and impactful content that maps to certification paths and designing a comprehensive strategy to drive adoption and measure business results. Will work along side employees in the field to understand the challenges to build out appropriate training.


Responsibilities:


Deliver On-Site and Classroom Training: Conduct comprehensive safety and technical training sessions on the installation of busbar and switchgear systems.

  • Prepare training environments, both on-site at project locations and in classroom settings, ensuring all necessary resources are available for effective training delivery.
  • Deliver training sessions both in-person and virtually, accommodating audiences with varying levels of experience.
  • Customize course materials to suit virtual training environments, ensuring optimal learning experiences.
  • Develop practical training scenarios based on real-world installation challenges and industry expertise.
  • Demonstrate and enforce safety protocols and guidelines during on-site training sessions, prioritizing the safety of all participants.
  • Maintain classroom discipline and ensure adherence to established policies, both on-site and in the classroom.
Develop Training Materials: Collaborate in the creation of relevant training materials, leveraging research, subject matter expertise, and feedback from installation teams.
  • Continuously update and refine teaching materials and practical exercises based on field feedback and emerging best practices.
  • Participate in New Product Development (NPD) initiatives, integrating new product information into training materials.
  • Conduct training needs assessments to identify areas for improvement and skill development among installation teams.
  • Promptly incorporate change notices and safety bulletins into training materials to ensure up-to-date instruction.
Maintain Training Environment: Assist in coordinating on-site training logistics, ensuring all necessary equipment and resources are available for effective learning.
  • Ensure that safety and testing equipment is well-maintained and functioning properly, updating inventory lists as needed.
  • Maintain tools, spare parts, and equipment used in training exercises, keeping them in optimal working condition.
  • Uphold cleanliness and organization standards in both on-site training areas and classroom environments.
Continuous Improvement: Review and integrate feedback from installation teams to continually enhance training programs and methodologies.
  • Explore and implement new training techniques and approaches based on lessons learned and industry advancements.
  • Attend professional development opportunities and industry conferences to stay abreast of evolving installation practices and technologies.
Duties and Travel: Complete all administrative tasks accurately and in a timely manner, including travel-related documentation such as expense reports and trip reports.
  • Conduct thorough evaluations of training sessions to assess effectiveness and gather insights for improvement.
  • Coordinate travel arrangements as for on-site training sessions, ensuring timely arrival and departure to project locations.

Requirements:

  • Experience in electrical installations, with a focus on busbar and switchgear systems preferred.
  • Experience in training and development, preferably in a technical or vocational setting
  • Knowledge of electrical codes, standards, and safety regulations (e.g., NEC, NFPA) preferred.
  • Candidates should possess strong interpersonal skills and be adept at building rapport with customers and trainees.
  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills with an emphasis on presentation and facilitation skills for both the classroom and job site.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness to travel to project sites within the US, with overnight stays required.
  • Proficient PC skills including all Microsoft Office products and web-based virtual learning technologies (e.g. Microsoft Teams, WebEx, Skype).
  • Professional, fast paced environment with customer interaction.
  • Professional office environment when not at an installation site.

Education & Certifications: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or minimum of two years electrical/electronic technical degree and equivalent training and experience. Technical Electronic/electrical military training is a suitable substitution
